I have a question about my spouse changing her name.

If we get her name changed at social security office so that she has my last name

Her ssn, us driver license etc will have her new name but...

how does this work - if we apply for AOS with her new name her EAD, AP and Green Card would not match the name on her passport?

Thx

Chris.

You put her new name on your AOS, EAD and AP application and send along the marriage certificate. That should do it.

Apply for Adjustment of Status under her new, married name. The green card will then be issued in her married name. Take the green card, and marriage license, to the Social Security office and get a new Social Security card (with work authorization) in her married name. Use the new Social Security card to get a new Drivers License or State ID card.

Report her marriage to the Philippine Embassy, Consulate office, or Consulate outreach event. If her passport has less than a year or so, just apply for a new one. Or, it is still good for a few years, you can have an addendum page inserted. If you do not get a new passport, then I strongly suggest carrying a copy of your marriage license whenever you travel.

I have a question about my spouse changing her name.

If we get her name changed at social security office so that she has my last name

Her ssn, us driver license etc will have her new name but...

how does this work - if we apply for AOS with her new name her EAD, AP and Green Card would not match the name on her passport?

Thx

Chris.

After you get the green card process done, do a Report of Marriage with the Philippine consulate along with renewing the passport in her married name. If the Philippine consulate is not close to you watch for an outreach event to come to a city near you then do the ROM and renewal.
