I'm a citizen of the Czech Republic and I plan on keeping my Czech citizenship forever. So I have to renew my passport every 10 years as it expires. Before I moved to USA I went to an office in Czech Republic to cancel my permanent residency over there and they took my Czech ID and told me to keep just the passport (which expires in 2017). They also told me that when I get married in the USA and my name changes, my passport will expire in 3 months (they told me the same thing at the embassy in New York so I trust them). So what I need to do is to send my US marriage certificate with Czech translation to the embassy in New York along with forms requesting my name change and register my marriage back in Czech Republic. Based on that, they will change my name and make a Czech marriage certificate for me and they will send it to the embassy in New York. Then I can come and apply for a new Czech passport (with my new name on it). This whole process will take about 5-6 months.

Now my question is: I just sent out the AOS package and I'm still using my old passport with my maiden name on it, but I will probably get a new passport before I get a green card... Will there be a problem? How should I let the USICS know about this?

Thank you for your advice!

Not a problem and you don't need to tell USCIS anything. They are not involved with passport procedures of other countries.

But I had to give my passport number on all the forms for AOS...So that doesn't matter?

People have to replace passports all the time for a variety of reasons, it's a non-issue.
