Hello VJers, just need a lil help here.. i am filing K-1 Fiance Visa, i already got my NOA2, MNL case number and i am just waiting for my fiance's affidavit of support this week and so i can schedule my interview. As i research for the required documents that i will take for my incoming interview, i have noticed this revised K-1 Instruction page 2 from the US Embassy Manila, i put a yellow box to it (please see the image below)

By the way, i am from the Philippines and i worked in Japan for 6 months in 2006, 3 months in 2007 and 2 years straight in 2008-2010, my question is, is it really necessary to get police certificate from Japan/other country that I've been to? its been 3 years since i lived there.

Thanks for your help..

It's not a new requirement. In one of the forms, I've indicated countries I have visited, the filipino interviewer who checks the docs asked me if I did some work or was employed while I was in those countries. I didn't but my guess is that he would asked me for a police certificate if I did.

It looks like you've worked there for more than 6 months. They will probably ask for it. Maybe you have friends in Japan who can get it for you?

Yes, you need to get one. I forgot how much though. But my hubby requested one from the Japanese embassy here in the Philippines last 2011 and it took around 2 months!

His interview was around late Sept and was issued a 221g because of that. And he was able to get his visa early Dec already.

I hope it's faster now..

Hello perksandgrumps! :) yups, i've worked in japan for almost 3 years. my visa is intra-company transferee/L-1. anyways...I've been to Japan Embassy in Manila today to request for japan police clearance. then filled out the form then went to camp crame to get my finger prints then went back again at the embassy.. they said it'll be 2-3 months processing. oh well, i will call them after a month :)

Hello marione05! hmm since i already requested my japanese police clearance today, all i have to do is wait for it. hmm do you think is a good idea to schedule my medical on 3rd week of November and my interview on 4th week of November? i dont wanna file 221g something so i am hoping and praying i will get my clearance before my interview..... :)

Oh - right. May embassy nga naman sila dito. I forgot, our department works with them too :)) Wow 2-3 months? At least hindi mo pa na-schedule yung appointment. You can only do it twice, I think. Anyway, kaya yan! Patience :)

Oh my so what happened to your interview? Did they gave you something like 221g form? Ive read that you should be physically present in Japan if you're going to request for the police cert. there and your tita cant do it for you. my interview is on monday next week, Nov. 25 and still no pol cert in my hands. I guess we'll be in the same boat. Hurray :(

To the OP, just remember that the visa validity is tied to your medical date so the 6 month VISA validity is already ticking from when you had your medical. Any news from Japan Embassy about your police certificate?

I dont think so. Still waiting for my jap police cert and its been 66 days since i filed it. Really frustrating :( i called Jap Embassy yesterday and they said that other certificates are delayed too. She said it could be because of the recent typhoon haiyan that everything got delayed. Well i dont think so :/ i will call again tomorrow
