Yes, why not? The terms of renting are up to the tenant and landlord, though with some legal requirement to protect the tenant.

Is it possible for a new DV immigrant to rent an appartment or a romm (roomates) the first week he arrive in USA ?

What is required to rent a room ? Please need help.

Yes. As Harpa Timsah indicates there are terms which sometimes include a credit check that could offer a problem for an apartment for example but there are always different circumstances. I suggest checking Craigslist to find the area and then contacting the housing places seen there.

Most places that rent want you to show a job and to be able to check your credit history. Hotels are more open to less proofs as they are set up for people that are in transition. If you have friends or country mates in the US it may be possible to room with a family you know ( which sometimes helps as they will prepare food you are used to )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

If you need help as to where to find such places, let us know, but your question was "can you rent..." the answer to which is yes.

thank you all for your answers. I'm not yet in USA. I am planning to travel at the end of October. So I am searching a cheap room (appartment) to rent. that's why I ask renting requirements and preocess. As new immigrant i can't have job proof or credit history. Is it possible to rent without these conditions?

Ning suggested to check Craigslist. is Craigslist safe ? someone has good experience with that site ?

I intend to live in Texas but if thre are other good places, i can change my preference;

My husband used craigslist when he was looking for a place to rent for a few months. He found a place very quickly and was approved right away. The place is nice, as well as the landlady. Im also regularly checking craigslist lately for possible houses since we're planning to buy one next year. I think it's a great and helpful site. ?

Try Craigslist, airbnb, you could google other "roommate finders." Lots of people with no jobs and no credit history rent rooms and apartments.
