Just wanted to add that I'm right with Mags & Lou Lou on the obsession with cleaning products & antibacterial stuff in particular... right up there with overprescription of antibiotics (and more to the point, people who go whining to their doctor demanding antibiotics every other week because they have a slight sniffle) among my major bugbears! We'd have much better immune systems (and, without being a scientist, I honestly believe there would be less of a problem with super-resistant bacteria like MRSA) if we'd just put up with a bit of 'dirt' now and again! I swear the sickliest people I know are the most cleaning-obsessed, and the parents who have to douse everything in disinfectant constantly to 'protect' their kids are going to end up with sicklier kids still.

At least, that's my entirely non-scientifically-based couple of cents' worth!

a friend of mine told me that she was really over protective with her daughter.. when she would go outside she would bundle her up etc... and she was always getting sick whereas the neighbor kids would be running around with barely anything on and hardly ever getting sick....

growing up we lived close to a gravel pit and every summer water would collect and make a little pond that we would go swimming in... keep in mind that this was standing water and dogs and kids peed and stuff in the water... but me and my bros hardly got sick growing up....

Hope I didn't screw up the poll! I put "depends", because I wouldn't necessarily re-wash it, I'd give it a quick wipe, or rinse before using again.

I'm female and I'd re-wash it. First, who knows what the spider crawled on before he crawled around in the pan. (i.e. crawled across a mound of dog poop and then crawled around my pan.) Second, who knows if the spider was in there long enough to drop some spidey droppings which would get attached to my food. Eww.

I agree with Angilla. You don't know where the spider's been!!

Although I'm not into overuse of antibacterial products. I think a bit of dirt is good for the immune system. Just don;t like the idea of spider feet!

Female - no.

It was a spider---not a slug. And, I wouldn't squish it. I would pick it up in the "bug collector" (a tool I've had for years) and put it in the garbage chute or the stairwell of my building. Indoor spiders die when you put them outdoors. I wouldn't want the responsibility. 'Twould tear me apart.
