Just wanted to add that I'm right with Mags & Lou Lou on the obsession with cleaning products & antibacterial stuff in particular... right up there with overprescription of antibiotics (and more to the point, people who go whining to their doctor demanding antibiotics every other week because they have a slight sniffle) among my major bugbears! We'd have much better immune systems (and, without being a scientist, I honestly believe there would be less of a problem with super-resistant bacteria like MRSA) if we'd just put up with a bit of 'dirt' now and again! I swear the sickliest people I know are the most cleaning-obsessed, and the parents who have to douse everything in disinfectant constantly to 'protect' their kids are going to end up with sicklier kids still.

At least, that's my entirely non-scientifically-based couple of cents' worth!

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

I would definitely wash the pan. I am really weird about stuff like that. Whenever I get a dish out of the cabinet, I always rinse it before I use it, even if it was just washed a couple of days before. I get the heebie jeebies thinking about the possibility of there having been a bug in the cabinet that I didn;t know about.

 I don't use any of that antibacterial #######. I haven't had a cold, let alone a sniffle in years. I use common sense, that's all.

A spider is not particularly dirty. How many of you wash and clean EVERYTHING in the house every morning because bugs have been there overnight? Because believe me, they have. A pan that has had a spider in it will not make you ill, especially because that pan will most likely end up in a hot oven where whatever germ you want to imagine is there from the wee girl will be killed off by heat. How many of you handle money? That is far more germ infested. Shopping carts. Ugh they are pretty gross too. But a spider? Don't be such big girls. ;):P

What about all the dust mites? How do all you cleaners deal with knowing those babies are crawling around your pans!?!

Actually, they tend to crawl around in your bed.....

THEY ARE EVERYWHERE! THEY'RE FEEDING OFF YOUR DEAD SKIN CELLS AT THIS VERY MOMENT! MUUUUUUUAH!

 Exactly what I mentioned above. You're right FeatherB, regardless of whether you are coming from a scientific background. :) I DO come from a scientific background and there was ALOT of this kind of stuff being discussed. Humans are killing themselves with cleanliness.

Do a dust mite a favour....don't boil wash that bedding...embrace the bugs!

BWAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!! Posting pictures of dustmites should be against TOS! :P

Honestly, I'm allergic to the things. We had too many in São Paulo in our mattress and I got horrible rashes on my arms and legs for a week.
