DS-230 Scenario Reversed

Last week I posted that I was expected to receve the IV Bill while I am in England visiting my husband. I planned to have a friend mail it in for me in my absence, and Aussiewench's advice was very helpful, as usual.

To my surprise, this morning I found the IV Bill in my mailbox, so I rushed to the post office before work to send it right back to them (I leave for the airport later this afternoon).

So now I have a new scenario. It may be the DS-230 itself that must be mailed in my absence.

My husband is a UKC, so all he will need to send back with his DS-230 is a copy of the biographic page of his passport. I am the Agent and have the signed DS-230 and bio page all set, and have already generated the DS-230 barcoded coversheet.

Other than the DS-230 itself, the Bio Page and the coversheet, what needs to go back to the NVC with this package? Do you think it would be safe to have a trusted individual send it back for us while I'm gone?

Thanks again. Sorry I jumped the gun before, but I never thought the IV Bill would come so quickly!

My understanding is that you also need to submit all the documentation: police certificates, marriage, birth, copy of passport bio page, divorce, etc.

it depends on the country..... yeah, in Canada we submit all that to the NVC but for other countries you bring that along to the interview.... not sure how it works in the UK....

Reading the post, it looks like the OP means she wants to know what comes in the package *from the NVC* that needs to be returned -- not what case-specific documentation she needs to provide for them to support the form.

If it helps at all I think it's just the DS-230, the barcode sheet, and the passport page like you said. I'm like 90% sure about this, but maybe somebody else will come along who is 100% certain.

I'm kind of curious about this one, myself. I'm off to see my Sweetheart next Monday through the first of the year, and it's conceivable our DS-230 packet may come when I'm gone, too. I'm also pretty sure that all we need to mail back is the form, the bio page and the barcode page ... but is there someone who has just done this who can confirm? I could bring the things I have ready on my trip, and mail them to the NVC from there ... .

What is required for the UK is the same as I had to submit being from Australia. The barcoded cover sheet, the DS-230 part 1 and a copy of the applicants biographic page/s of their passport.

As for trust. Is this the same person you were going to trust with the IV Bill. If trusted enough for one, then I imagine the same with the DS-230. Providing you have it all ready and addressed, you can call the NVC automated phone service from the UK, and as soon as you know it has been generated you can contact your friend and have them mail it off.

All the best. Enjoy your trip.
