I do not think Social Security is working, due to shut down.

Wife, from Philippines, entered US, via K 1 on 4-22, p.o.e Alanta.

Married 6-22

Went to SS office 7-5

Had every piece of evidence they asked for, said it would be about 3-4 weeks.

9- 17 we went back to SS office, and they said, "NO record of us ever being there!

I produced a receipt with date of 7-5,.,they were speechless.

Refiled everything, again, have another receipt, but now have a supervisor, that said she was responsible until the case if resolved, SS number delivered.

She said up to 4 weeks, we are close to 3 weeks now, HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO EXPECT NOW!

Any comments, suggestions, appreciated!.

you have ead card now -

i suggest going back with the ead card, and applying again.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I would say you better be patient:

http://www.ssa.gov/shutdown/

Due to the Federal Government Shutdown, Social Security field offices are open with limited services.

We cannot provide the following services:

  1. Issue new or replacement Social Security cards
  2. Replace your Medicare card
  3. Issue a proof of income letter
