i looked for your thread on google bcos i had read it when u posted it before.

i dont think culture justifies your husband behaviour, where im from we dont exhibit a lot of affection outside, my fiancee complained i dont say 'i love u' enough, in my view, i was saying it a lot. i told her i'd never heard my parents say it to each other, i also noticed my fiancee and her parents say it to each other all the time, it was strange for me then.

my fiancee mentioned to our counsellor (in ghana) that i dont say 'i love u' a lot, he replied its our environment and that he'd been married for over 30 years and hasnt exchanged this sentence with his wife.

its like i declared it, and so now u know, i dont hav to repeat myself.

but the counsellor said she shud teach me and i'd learn. actually i've learnt and i've been showing a lot of affection (in my opinion). and i like it as its shown to me also.

so my point here is culture can raise us in a particular way, but as we grow, if we agree that a part of another culture is GOOD, why not learn.

so no, after 7 years, culture doesn't justify your husband's behaviour.

i hope u meet 'him'.

T.
