Looking at my medical records, I need to have this done too. It's not common in Canada and I thought I was covered...damn. I'm going to guess as long as you get the first dose here and then continue when in the US it's ok, but I NEED someone with experience to comment here and let us know.

Great, I just read Montreal's requirements and they have even more vaccinations -

need hep a and b vaccanation
flu vaccine
Meningococcal
Pneumococcal
Rotavirus
Varicella
On top of the common ones that most Canadians already have. Why is there no sticky for this? I can't believe people have had all of these.

I have been reading the same thing about only requiring certain vaccines. This is directly from the US Immigration doctors website.

27-49 YEARS

Tdap (Adacel or Boosterix) - ensure you get Tdap not just Td

MMR Measles, Mumps, Rubella. ("MR" and "MM" are not enough). You need MMR

Varicella - If you had "Chicken Pox" disease, no vaccine is needed

Influenza (only required during October - February, annually)

Hep B may only be required up to 18 years old.

This is straight from CDC for immigration.... Should make most of us feel better.

"Because completion of the vaccine series often requires several months, immigrant applicants are not required to receive all doses of the required vaccines as part of the immigrant medical exam. Rather, applicants are required to receive at least one dose of each vaccine that is appropriate for their age group. They are also encouraged to receive as many added doses as needed to complete the series."

This is fantastic news....

My husband and I are using this website: http://www.panelphysicians.com/Pages/Immunizations.htm
We're going to his family doctor on Monday and are going to ask for his immunization history, I'm pretty sure if you're over 18 and you followed all of your immunizations when you were a kid all you would mostly likely need is an updated dTap and influenza shot. Make sure to check your past immunization records to be sure though as many shot requirements have changed in the past decades.

Hep B is only required if you're under 18. do not worry about it unless you have children.

I also used that link. I printed the page out, took it to my doctor and got updates on what I needed. I get hep because the kids were getting it but it was not required. I figured I would just add it to my list and lower my risk.

Hep B is only required if you're under 18. do not worry about it unless you have children.

Agreed!

And just to add to this. My children only had the first 2 of the 3 series of shots and had no problem. They just had to note that on their paperwork.
