Legal Permanent Resident

He marries you, that does not entitle him to anything. It only permits you to begin a process to bring him to the US.

Start with 'guides'

good luck

He is already here with his b2 visa.

All I want to get info on is where to start the process for him to become legal.

So we can travel back and forth to Costa Rica or to wherever without him having to stay in Costa Rica. So he can have a job.

He speaks English and writes in English also.

I am just clueless on where to start. I live in Dayton, Ohio if that makes any difference.

Thanks..

Read the Guides.

1. Get marry. You can only file for him if he is married to you.

2. File the I-130, I-485, etc. to adjust his status to a Legal Permanent Resident (aka green card holder).

3. DO NOT LET HIM LEAVE THE US WITHOUT A GREEN CARD OR ADVANCE PAROLE (AP). If he leaves before getting one of them, he will be stuck outside the US until you can get a spousal visa for him. A spousal visa takes 1 year.

4. Once he has his green card, he can live and work in the US. He can visit Costa Rica.
