Define 'inadmittance'

If you were denied entry, then it will be more difficult to get into the US in the future, a lack of job will not help your case

what other ties do you have to Canada?

good luck

Thank you canadianwife,

I was denied entry in April. Do I have other ties? I have a car and some savings. Should I have better chance after noa2?

I was denied entry, but entered successfully after a few weeks. It is a terrible experience. It is, however, tougher to get in after a denial

What was the reason for your denial?

good luck

My concern is that you were denied for not having enough ties. Now it appears you have lost your job, which was a tie to Canada.

Expect scrutiny. It will be harder for you to enter, especially with the immigrant intent

good luck

All comes down to the POE officer. As mentioned above others have been denied entry--came back with increased evidence and got in. Having Immigration paperwork with you is very good as it displays you are aware of the law and doing it the right way.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

i agree. be very very careful.

they are going to give you a hard time.

expect to provide proof of all of our ties to canada - bank statements, lease/mortgage, employer letter / recent pay stubs, letter from family if u are staying with them, etc. remember, this burden of proof is on you.

also, if you are denied entry - it can negatively affect your case and they WILL ask you about it in your interview.

i'm sorry- best of luck,

Some have been denied entry and it depends of course for what reason, and if it is just for lack of evidence, it is not going to affect ur interview. If one gets BANNED, a ttl different story. Huge difference between a BAN and a denied entry.

i agree. the reason i say a denial can affect visa is because CBP told me that.

i wrote them an email and they said if my husband is denied entry that it could cancel our pending visa.

that scared us enough so we haven't had him cross over ever since.

when speaking to DOS, they couldn't definitively agree or disagree with what CBP said.

a return ticket is great evidence! that usually makes them happy :)

It all depends on the border officer. I never once had an issue crossing, and they never asked for evidence (which is good because I never thought to bring anything!). I visited about 4 times after we started our immigration process.
