Hi VJ members! I need your help ASAP, my interview is coming within 6 days and I have a concern regarding my birth certificate. I was originally born in Manila but we moved to our grandparents province when I was a 5 years old. My mother late registered me into my grandparents town as my birthplace. I was using this as my birthplace in my legal documents like my passport, buying a property. But recently when I wanted to get a new copy of my birth certificate from NSO, they provided me a certificate that I was born at Manila. They said that they already blocked my late registration birth certificate. My interview date is coming , I'm planning to use my late registration birth certificate that was taken from the NSO , year 2000.

I have informed the NSO about my case and they advise me to settle my problem via court. And if I'm going to file a case, it will take 3 months or more.

Anyone of you have idea if the US embassy will verify the birth certificate at NSO?

Pls give me an advice as my interview is coming soon . Thanks!

God bless you !

Hi FC-EC, I am not a pro here, but I also have the same issue with you. I have 2 birth certificates and I used the earlier one.I only knew this when my interview was coming.

If you say that you used your later registered birth certificate ever since then, just present that to Embassy. Anyway, how did they blocked the 2nd certificate? I think they can't block it if it didn't go through court hearing, final decision, etc.

If I were you, try getting another copy of your NSO certificate if you can, so you know if you can still get another copy of it. :)

Thanks Keane for your reply. The NSO had done some clearing in the registration record around year 2011. They will only keep 1 registration for each person. They said if there is a second registration done, they will block the 2nd registration . I tried to get a new copy of my late registration from the NSO, but they said they can't already provide unless I have to go with a legal process ( court hearing)

But you said you have your birth certificate which was late registered right? Just use that :) The thing is just about your birth place, so settle it afterwards since your interview is coming real soon:)
