That's the point. I can't get this radicalism where people are literally want to suffocate whatever momentum we got going in the economy. That would make fiscal matters much worse. We have the real life examples right across the pond. But that real life, factual evidence be damned, they still want to do the same thing that's failed to achieve the goal time and again and are somehow expecting a different result. As sad as that is, they have convinced their base that this is awesome...thus they will be reelected to do absolutely nothing for another term.

You're still not catching on. This government shut down is not about there being no money. The money is already agreed. And it will be paid plus the extra cost that this shutdown causes. Of course, there will be less money coming in as a result of the shutdown. So there will be more debt because of this shutdown you're cheering on. You're effectively cheering for more debt.

I believe they should get a panel of economist together and let them illustrate the true effect of the shutdown. If it's doing nothing or saving money as some claim I'd be extremely shocked. Shocked that a complex economic machine could be shut down with no residual effect.

I have to come in on Sunday mornings at 6 am to PM servers that take in revenue 24x7. (And believe me, I tried to have them choose another day.) They've actually calculated the negative impact of doing this maintenance at any other time. On the surface you could say come on it's no big deal...but hey, they've calculated it and these guys don't like paying for Sundays for anything.

So an entire federal system coming to a hault? Please, it can't be zero impact or saving us money. No freaking way. I'm sure they'll have no idea how much until the next quarter. Just by paying furloughed workers for man hours that were never worked cost millions or 100 millions. And the work just sits there waiting for them.

Just use common sense and you'll see that it's gonna be very expensive.

I'm really starting to think that we're doomed in a literal sense.

If you have a government that refuses to pass any legislation during an economic downturn, a downturn that has been fairly long term and substantial you're putting your country at risk by not assisting the economy in every way possible. Those are people still suffering, not statistics.

We've have a long term loss in manufacturing jobs that won't return without government incentives over an extended period of time. We've got a shrinking middle class and a rising 1% not putting money back into the system. The middle class fuels everything.

And what are we worried about? A health care program that's designed to assist the number one cost that continually fleeces American's and drives them into bankruptcy. The private sector can't and will not fix this problem...neither will more educational debt or shrinking government.

With all the issues we should be discussing, we're idiotically discussing defunding something that hasn't really been proven to be the end of America as we know it.

This country stopped a new great depression...together...that's both parties. You think we couldn't fix an insurance problem? We're better than that. At least we use to be.

It just makes me wonder how irrevocably broken this has all become.

Remember, Rome never saw it coming either.
