I received my NOA2 just a week ago. According to the timeline in our guides, I should give it about two weeks before calling the NVC; however, I've noticed a lot of people stating that it's taking longer than that. My file was sent to Texas from the beginning (no transfer). Also, on the USCIS website, does it update when it is sent to NVC?

Fortunately for you you went through texas service center. Them and Vermont seem to get case numbers within 2 weeks. They say they will email but California does not for some reason but I have VJ friends who are with texas and they received an email. You could try calling mid week next week to see if they have your case number. They have been telling people it takes up to 8 weeks, I am at 6 weeks now and should be getting my case number any day based off of fellow VJ'ers time lines, but like I said, your service center seems to route to NVC a lot faster then mine. Good luck

You should get a message that says "we shipped this approved or reafirmed case to the department of state" then they send to nvc. It could take several days for nvc to receive it. Then i would recommend calling the department of state, or DOS to get your case number. They are alot nicer! Once you have your case number, you will check your status here...

It will tell you when in transit to consolate, when interview ready, and when embassy sends out packet to fiance.

You can call DOS (202) 4857600
