Case on suspension?

Head is spinning righ now... My fiancé had his interview today in Ciudad Juarez. I have not had a chance to thoroughly discuss how it went, but he told me that his case was suspended and that we had to re-schedule another interview when we were ready. Is this bad news?

My fiancé didn't give me the reason yet, but I am guessing that it is for an incomplete case since we have to reschedule when we are ready, but I will get more info tonight.

No. No waiver. Apparently, we have tot go back to a follow up interview TOGETHER.

This is totally yanking my hair because I don't have time to go because of school until December.

Are follow up interviews bad news?

I would be relief they didn’t give him a waiver. To go back for a follow up interview and for the both of you to be in the interview doesn’t sound bad at all. I wish I could go in to the interview with my hubby since I am more inform of the case and know every document in case they ask for any. Don’t stress it too much I am sure everything will be fine, try to schedule another interview soon and hopefully you get it soon. I am in the same boat at you with school is hard to take time off, but my professors understand and allow me to miss class and go over with me what I missed once I get back from my husband’s interview. Just talk to you professors in case you get the follow up interview during school time I am sure they would understand.

I’ve heard in some interview they would ask if the petitioner is there and if the beneficiary says yes they ask to bring in the petitioner in. So maybe they ask him if you were there and he said no, if you would have been there then maybe there wouldn’t have been a need for a follow up interview since they would have called you in.

Thank you so much Vicmar! I feel much better. I was so upset earlier today. I hope they don't mention waivers, although he may need one. All this time waiting, it's killing me. Also, thank you for the suggestion about talking to my professors. My fiancé wants to get this done as soon as possible, so I might have to go when school is in session.

I had a feeling that I would have to go, since I was the one putting all the paperwork together, and of the two, I am the one who keeps everything in order, I just never expected a follow up.

I would prepare very thoroughly for a Stokes interview.

Your fiance should tell you EVERY question that he was asked, EVERY answer he gave, and EVERY reaction that he noticed from the consul. Write these down NOW, while they're freshly in mind. Then, research "Stokes interview" in the Advanced Search field at upper right of any VJ screen, and read thoroughly.

I completely agree with TBone. This is not typical for Juarez but did almost happen in my husband's case 3 years ago. The CO asked if I was there, then continued to ask when I would be able to be there, in 2 days? 2 weeks? a month? My husband told him he could not answer for me and would need to speak me about it but he thought I could work something out to be there as soon as possible. He seemed okay with that final response because he dropped that and ended up approving him anyway.

Go over every single detail of your fiance's interview. You need to know every question asked and every answer he provided to each and every question. There must have been something that made the CO feel the need for you to be present. Do you have any red flags in your case that you know of?

Gather plenty of relationship evidence and research about Stokes interviews where they separate you, ask you each questions and expect all your answers to match. I honestly have not read of this happening in the reviews that people post here on VJ about their interviews, but we are only a small percentage of the people that go through CDJ. It is possible they will want to interview you together and not separate you, but it is best to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Gather everything you need and schedule your second interview as soon as you are able to attend. Sorry this is happening to you two.

I am not 100% sure, but from what my fiancé to me this was the issue:

The CO asked why he left the U.S. and returned to Mexico. My fiancé left in March 2012 to Mexico because he was homesick and he wanted to be home by his mom's birthday (in March). This didn't make any sense to the CO. Then, I am not sure why the CO assumed that we were talking from March to August(of 2012), when we got engaged. The CO asked him, "You were engaged after only 5 months?" My fiancé told him that we had been talking since April 2010. The CO then asked him if we ever saw each other while my fiancé was in the U.S., which we didn't. He lived in Nebraska and I live in California and for various reasons we never saw each other. My fiancé mentioned that I had a boyfriend in that time, so we did not see each other. The CO left and came back and gave him a paper with info to reschedule a follow up interview.
