Hi People of VJ ,

I am preparing my binders for the Interview in MOntreal ... I just was wondering what do you suggest ? ... I ve heard that if the folder has metal , might alarm at the security entrance.

Also I have a lot of pictures and emails etc as a proof .. How should i manage this ? I had all of them in a binder but this has ring metal .

As far as the main forms , I was thinking to place in them in an accordion folder ( a friend suggested this :-) ) - But i am just wondering about the proof , I rather want to have extra

than not having enough so , how did you guys work with this - Your feed backs will be appreciated !

We used a plastic accordion file, obtained from Office Depot, for all of our documents, letters, etc.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

We used a plastic accordion file as well. The person behind me (also a k1) used a 3-ring binder with no issues.

Congratulations and good luck!

We used an accordian style folder. Metal shouldn't really be an issue as they will pass all your items through an xray scanner. So as long as you're not hiding the binder in your clothes, I can't image metal being a problem. There is only 1 security point at the consulate and they use airport-type security procedures, so if you can take it through airport secruity, you can probably take it through the consulte security. One thing to keep in mind is that if you intend to physically hand over any documents at the 1st window or at the window of your interview, the document must be able to slide under the window opening. Or I guess you could just hold it outside the window and show them your document but that may pose a problem if they ask for copies of that document. If the document is thick and rigid (maybe more than 1/4 in) it won't fit in the window slot and thus you won't be able to physically hand it over.

I seperated all my documents into manilla folders and labelled them with a post-it accordingly (I864, brith cert, marriage cert, etc). Then I put all those folders in the accordian folder to keep one neat packet together. Definitely a good call on having extra proof than not enough. Also take copies of anything you show them because they may ask for it. I had some of my tax documents for which I didn't have copies but the lady there was nice enough to make copies of them and gave back the originals to me.

Good luck!
