And this people, is why our great nation is alllll F^%$ed up!

For someone who wants to follow the bible, you have a lot of hate in your heart.

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

Not that I doubt your opinion and all but I thought maybe you had some actual references to Great Christian thinkers who have shaped doctrine or perhaps a teaching from rome (of which there are many and in great detail).

BUt apparently you saying "it is so" in fact make it.

Danno, I didn't make up the Confiteor, it's a fundamental confessional prayer in every mass and it's a fundamental component BECAUSE it's a matter of doctrine not because I think that it is.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Whats left to say, you equate -a random momentary though with someone who contemplates raping a child.

Focus Danno. Your statement that it is not a sin to think about committing sin is erroneous. According to christian doctrine it is a sin to think about committing a sin, to discuss committing a sin and to commit a sin. NONE OF THIS IS MY DOCTRINE . It's all on what YOU, as a christian are supposed to believe but seemingly don't. If therefore you do not understand your own christian dogma and base an argument on your flawed belief then that argument is necessarily flawed.

None of that says anything about me or what I believe, not one thing. You should use this as a lesson as to why you frequently get confused as to what other people are telling you. There is nothing in anything I have posted that could in any way shape or form lead you to conclude that I think that random thoughts are equivalent to contemplating rape. Nothing, niet, nada, rien. You just made it up for no good purpose than to presumably distract from the real arguments being made.

Why do you keep talking about doctrine yet you never post the doctrine so we might examine it?

Just think, you have the opportunity to correct my thinking on this matter, I just need something a little deeper than your understanding of what a thought is and at what point is becomes a sin.

Help me.

Danno, out of curiosity... let's just imagine that you woke up tomorrow attracted only to the same sex, for whatever reason. What would you do?

NOw thats a silly question... and with limited imagination too.

What if I woke up attracted to any other of the assortment of sexual possibilities on earth?

As it is, I do wake up attracted to things I refrain from and often times it is not easy.

We know people have all types of cravings, desires, impulses, just waking up with them does not mean that they are healthy, moral or beneficial to society.

Beneficial to society is something that changes depending on society. Heterosexual relationships would be beneficial if the world is underpopulated, but if the world is overpopulated perhaps homosexuality would be more beneficial.

Are you suggesting that you would become celibate if heterosexual sex no longer interested you, but legal (other than your personal beliefs) homosexual sex was something you craved?

If I woke up gay, I'd go be gay.

What would Xenu do?

Danno, I am not your pastor. Go chat with him, because you sure do need some sort of guidance.

One question I do have though is what are these so called 'random' thoughts you keep going on about? I don't have any random thoughts about sex. Random thoughts to me are things like, "I wonder how people would look if they all had green faces' I mean, I have never thought that specific thought, but that to me would be an example of a random thought. I do not think however that you can classify a visualization of a sexual act with a specific person, persons or a sustained fantasy about sex as a random thought. There is nothing random about that, that's a day dream or fantasy.

As a non theist day dreams or fantasy sex acts are not sins because I don't recognise sin, it's a meangingless term. However I can see why religions do classify these types of thoughts as equal to committing the act itself (and your 'preferred religion does so specify, regardless of whether you choose to regognise that fact or not) WHEN so doing results in the person becoming dissatisfied with their reality, finding fault with their partner not because the partner has done or not done anything but simply because they are not the fantasy. For some people it seems that it is all too easy for them to indulge in a fantasy life that disrespects those in their real life. However, again if you are REALLY interested in such things and are not just trying to disguise your ignorance, you would do well to consult a knowledgeable theologian as they would be more than happy to discuss these issues with you.

Like what? I mean, I think we all have 'indulgences' that we try to keep under control but apart from that I can't imagine what your conscience is wrestling with every morning when you wake up.

-Ok so you dodged on citing the doctrine you keep referring to.

-Despite your insistence, thoughts are not equal to actions.

-SInce there is no such thing as sin what is it when a man is having sex with a child?

A man having sex with a child would be something harmful to the child. A man having consensual sex with another man isn't harmful to anyone. The child's right not to be raped should be protected, and the man's right to choose his sex partner should also be protected. People's rights not to be beaten up, raped, and stolen from should also be protected. Sin has nothing to do with it.
