"his new coverage will cost him absolutely nothing in monthly premiums after factoring in federal subsidies"

You're welcome. rolleyes.gif

I'm very happy to know I'm helping to pick up his tab.

I may have to twist a cap & celebrate with a few glasses of Mac on Ice. kicking.gif It's time to invite a few peers and have an "Affordable" party.

Are you at a high enough tax bracket to get hit with the additional Medicare payroll tax?

Do you own a #######-ton of stock in medical device manufacturers?

(Note to self - AJ is very comfortable asking pinpoint personal questions = anticipate & reassess b4 adding future posts)

Like I stated b4 - You're welcome &...stop eating fast food. No more sh!t prompting Taco binges (for you). & I'm becoming a fan of Bloomberg = We need food Nazis patrolling the streets making sure We the People get healthy by eating healthy. From my POV - Starting now!...It's all about risk management.

In fact...I'm planning to implement new hiring rules - guess which 1s won't make the cut. wink.png I'm gonna take discrimination to new places...& guess what...there is a whole bunch of us whispering in the shadows.

(cue Dr. Evil laugh)

Nah.. I'm kidding...or...am I? cool.png

I was told my premiums would go up - they did. I was told I would help pay the cost for others - I am. I was told my taxes would increase - they did. I was told people like this guy would get a free ride - He is. I was told I would have to reduce coverage to cut premiums - I do.

My premiums went up each and every year sarting long before Obamacare was even on the horizon. I'm not attributing the usual annual increases to Obamacare. I helped pay the cost for others for as long as I lived in this country - almost two decades now. Obamacare isn't the cause of that. What taxes of your did increase?

It's true premiums have a long history of increases. But - increases (I experienced) prior to 2010 averaged in the low teens. Highest 1 year jump = 17%. When ACA implementation began - Insurance companies jacked my rates in the high 20% range (2010 & again in 2011). This was a result of ACA - pricing for guaranteed insurability & then preexisting condition rider restriction reduction & then elimination.

I had discussions with cohorts - 1 family example ( 2 adults , 3 children) premiums jumped from $800ish per month to over $1500 per month (2010-mid 2012). I discussed this "phenomenon" with multiple Insurance Brokers = "ACA is the driver for historical Vault" = Insurance companies increased premiums dramatically to absorb the enormous new risk.

Did you read the link I provided AJ? = It's like that movie War of the Worlds - I've been pulled up into the net & my blood is used for fertilizer...That is what they were doing with the blood ..? Regardless ...The point is clear....but...I didn't build it...right?

Every time a price rises in America it's Obama's fault.

Even Walmart is blaming long lines on Obama.

The only time I received money back from an insurance company was last year when they had to return part of the premiums as part of the new requiremetns of the ACA. In my entire life, there was never a time when premiums remained the same or decreased. For all we know, these people will be blaming Obamacare for the price of gas, hurricanes and wild fires in California.

1) SMH - Lack of knowledge & understanding is very apparent. Insurance companies manage risk. Risk + Cost increases = Higher Premiums. This is biz 101 stuff. ACA didn't just happen overnight - it had a 3 year phase in. Insurance companies had ACA policy restructure / pricing requirements the last 3 years opening the door to increased risk but no mandatory sign up premiums being paid until 2014. It's a no brainer.

2) Auto Insurance providers - How have they fared since Auto Insurance became mandate & State regulated / enforced?

Now pause & reflect. Health insurance is a national mandate = The health insurance industry will flourish under ACA.

I have every right to complain about ACA - Why? Coz I'm one of "these people" helping Gegel get alms from the insurance company = Go buy a carton of Newports & case of Colt. Toss a few flank steaks on the grill. Have a backyard bash on me. wink.png

Your experiences are nation wide and as you pointed out, one would have to be pretty slow to not think adding more risk and liability on the insureres insurance provider would not result in a cost increase.

The truth of it is, every time a requirement has been legislated on the provider we all paid for it, yet the Politician got the votes and credit.

It would be slower still to think that less customers is better for insurance companies... Perhaps in your nation that is the case...

I love fairy tales and anecdotes as much as the next guy. But let's take a look at what really happened, shall we?

From 2000 to 2010 - over the the decade preceding Obamacare - heath insurance premiums for employer sponsored group plans jumped 62%. Premiums, on average, were $8,576.00 in 2000 and $13,871.00 in 2010. That's approximately 5% worth of annual increases from 2000 to 2010. If rate increases would have stayed at that trajectory post Obamacare, 2013 premiums would be at roughly 16,300.00 in 2013. And guess what? For 2013, average premiums are 16,351.00. That means that premiums have remained on the very trajectory that were on prior to Obamacare. Bummer, eh?

You may now continue with your fairy tales and anecdotes. Sorry for interrupting.

Why is your concern for the insurance co. rather that everyone else?
