Use the search function to find the Binational Same Sex Couples forum. I think most of us are K-1 filers, though I am an IR-1 filer. I WISH Australia had DCF filing!!!

I'm filing on monday for my husband. anyone file so far? experiences?

Your experience should be no different than any other couple. Before the USCIS and the federal government, your process should not be any different that anyone else.

I believe it is somewhat hard to believe that there are no catches or caveats, but that is how it is - that is how equality feels like.

Congrats and good luck! You guys and girls fought it hard. It was about time!

Yes there are a few around here =) !

As mentioned, your experience will be no different than any other couple around here. According to my friends who are filling for same-sex, they filed the petition right around the time I did and are having their interview next week, so it is quite similar really !

It was about time and I am so happy you finally have equal rights. Some people have been waiting for years! Good luck with your I-130 !

We have done the whole process through London and so far (we have the interview next week) the process has been straightforward - they have treated the application in exactly the same manner as others who applied around the same time.

Anyone think we should submit a letter describing our story... a sort of timeline? We always wanted to marry, but once DOMA changed this summer, we married and decided to apply. Will the Embassy question this? "Why now"

DCF in London is very prescriptive. Stick to their checklist. You don't need to explain timing or anything.

* I-130/CR-1 visa by Direct Consular Filing in London
3rd May 2013 - Married in London

7th May 2013 - I-130 filed
4th June 2013 - NOA2 (approved)
16th July 2013 - Interview (approved)
30th July 2013 - POE San Francisco
29th August 2013 - 2 year green card arrived

* How? Read my DCF London I-130 for CR1/IR1 Spouse Guide

* Removal of Conditions (RoC) via California Service Centre
1st May 2015 - 90 day RoC window opened
6th May 2015 - I-751 filed (delivered 8th May, cheque cashed 18th May)
7th August 2015 - Approved / GC production

27th August 2015 - 10 year green card arrived

* Naturalisation (Citizenship) via Phoenix Lockbox

* San Francisco Field Office:
1st May 2016 - N-400 window opened
20th August 2016 - N-400 filed

26th August 2016 - NOA1
13th September 2016 - Biometrics

We filed in London and are currently at NOA2 approved stage.Which happened fairly quickly, I suspect other couples blazed the trail for us (A BIG thank you to them)

We are now waiting for our LDN case number (advised it can take up to 8 weeks.....so only 4 more to go) then its onto the medical and interview stages.

We actually had a UK civil partnership back in 2007 but didn't want to take the chance that the US would recognise this so we got married in NY a few months back and both returned here to the UK. I'm the beneficiary UKC my partner now has dual nationality UK and (US from birth), so getting married for us was for the most part a second event (our family and friends stating ..."your what getting married AGAIN???"), as we already felt married just not legally recognised in the US. That's why we have been living in the UK together for the last 10 years until DOMA finally fell.

So far London consular have treated us as you would expect - respectfully like every other married couple who have applied.

Good luck with everyone filing.
