Holiday in Caribbean before entering on K1 Visa

Hi Everyone,

Quick question which hopefully bodes well for a quick and easy answer.

Our K1 visa is just about approved and our intention is to holiday in the caribbean before entering the USA on my K1. My question is am i allowed to enter from St Lucia instead of my home country the UK and will there be any issues arising from this?

Yes, You can go to St.Lucia for your holiday, but you should not miss any of the visa interview for the processing. So better you can get the permission from the consulate and then plan for a travel for avoiding some issues.

I have my visa interview on October 15th and expect my passport back early November and i plan to fly to St Lucia on November 10th for a week and then enter the US direct from St Lucia on or around the 17th November. I'm just worried that entering directly from St Lucia would cause any problems

As long as you don't have to transit the U.S. to get to St. Lucia, shouldn't be a problem. If you have to transit the U.S., you will use the one entry of the K1 on that transit and then not be able to leave the U.S. until you are married.

The basic rule of K1 visa you get to go through US customs and border patrol once after you get it. So if you transit through the US proper or any US territory then you have used your K1 and either start over or don't leave the US until you have AOS

Thanks for all the helpful replies - my flight is direct from the UK so my first and only entry into the US would be after my holiday and if for any reason we got diverted to the US i would just have to stay in the US and not go on holiday. My main concern was if St Lucia was classed as a US territory or something but it is a British colony im pretty sure
