What do they collect exactly?

Blood, Urine, and X ray? Or just Blood and X ray?

Is there a physical involved at all?

Are the main things they look for TB, syphillis, and drugs?

Have an appointment at 2:30 and REALLY want to get out of there ASAP as the traffic is going to be nuts (what should be a 2 and a half hour drive home will probably end up being 5+).

I searched for reviews of other Dr's and linked 1 below. Your appt will be identical. Its like having a physical but not as much is checked. Yes, they will check 'under the hood' to ensure you have the correct parts but it's a quick check and nothing exciting.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/448691-medical-review-dr-seiden-toronto/

I do wish you luck not hitting traffic - if your appt starts on time and lasts 45 mins - an hour, you'll be hitting the highways right at rush hour.

My husband just had his medical there on Tuesday. He said the doctor literally "examined" him for 45 seconds and then said "So...you have some money for me?". Pretty much there was no examination at all..hah. I'm not sure if that's how it normally is or not, but my husband said the doctor walked in, said "You look like a pretty healthy guy", and then started checking off boxes on the sheet. He also go x-rays and blood work done.

Heh.. This doctor must be in it to win it ($$$).

Hopefully I get out ASAP like your husband. I'm sure if the NVC/Consulate find out about this he might have some problems ( the doctor, not your husband) lol.

Honestly its a joke when you consider we come from a highly modern, developed country and we have provincial healthcare across Canada from cradle to grave- we simply dont; have the same disease risks as other countries

There were a lot of measles cases in Canada this summer and they’re showing a rise in Pertussis (including deaths) as well which lends credence to our being checked for our vaccinations.

I know all of our (Canadian) soldiers are checked for TB when coming home from the various deployments so I’m thinking that it’s our wealthiness and ability to be able to afford travel is one more reason. A lot of Canadians can afford to travel to places where some of the diseases they are checking for are more prevalent and the symptoms for adults aren’t necessarily intense enough for us to consider a Dr’s visit necessary but we can still be carriers.

I didn’t realize that a lot of these things are getting missed in our annual checkups at home. Things like the boosters because it’s seen as something for travel clinics or the public health nurses but the nurses ready access to patients is mainly in school.

Quoting again because this is exactly what happened with me today. You and your husband described it to the T.

Called my name.. Walked in and did the "Hi how are yous".. Asked if I'm heading to Florida for some reason.. Said no. Said I looked like a healthy guy, asked my age and said I was young and healthy. Checked NO on every box and wrote N/A for something. While he's talking I'm pulling out my cash and counting it.. Put it on the table and slid it to him. Gave me the two sheets for my TB and Syphillis check. Said our goodbyes and had a very awkward hand shake. Also told me I am missing an updated TDAP shot which I should get and fax to him immediately.. Will do today.

X ray was fast.. Took no longer than 30 seconds. Blood work was fast too. I spent the most time sitting and waiting (15 minutes).

FYI:

My appointment was for 2:30, and I showed up at 12:30. No one was inside and I just told the receptionist I was 2 hours early.. She gave me all the paperwork to fill out. Didn't even ask for my interview letter. She said that me filling in the case number was good enough.

There were two signs stating " We are forced to report any rude or offensive behaviour to immigration and insurance companies"

Whats with that? I forgot to ask him.. Also forgot to ask him if that was his sweet Viper outside in the lot.

LOL, he said the Florida thing to my husband too. The whole thing is such a joke.

Glad you were able to get in early though, that's nice!

Wow, after reading this thread, it sure seems that way! I went to Dr. Lee in Scarborough. He did a pretty thorough job and spent almost a half hr with me. My appointment was at 8:30 am and since I was coming from out of town, I had to leave at 5:45 am to get there. I wasn't seen until 10:30! Anyways, he made sure all my vaccines were up to date. I had blood work and an xray. Dr.Lee then told me I needed to fax him my flu shot which he said should be available next week. I posted a topic about this. Anyone else been told to get the flu shot when its not available yet?

Nope. No flu shot. When I called to schedule the medical the lady told me I need to get a chicken pox vaccine (Varicella) which I did.

Took my vaccine records in along with proof of my Varicella vaccine. It was all looked over and he saw that my last TDAP shot was in 2000 so he told me to get it done and fax it in.. He was very VERY fast. I don't even know where and how he got his hands on the paper but before I even knew it he had the vaccine I needed and his fax number highlighted.

Went to him this Wednesday. The receptionist told me it would take 3 to 4 days to for the medical package to be ready to be picked up. I received a call the following day saying that my package was ready to be picked up. I haven't picked it up yet, but did it take this quick for you all too?

When I went last week, she had me fill out a couple of forms which needed my MTL number and passport number so bring your passport and the appointment confirmation letter for these. She took my passport and made a copy, but said she didn't need the letter (I'd bring it just in case though). She also took a copy of my vaccination records - I had my yellow one that doctors have filled out over the years and that was acceptable. You will need a flu shot now that we're in season, so if you haven't got it yet do it before you go. I had the pharmacist receipt (looks like a prescription receipt with my name on it) for my flu shot and that was accepted too. The only other thing I needed was ONE 2x2 photo. Everywhere else says I need three so I brought extras just in case, but she only took one. They'll take blood, but you don't need to fast, and they'll do an x-ray. The doctor will ask a few questions, and if you're healthy - he took my word for it, didn't look through the medical history, even though I brought it - that will be it. If you have any kind of history of medical issues, he may require your medical history documents though. Hope this helps. You should be out of there within an hour.

Btw... My letter didn't have the barcode either, so the one you have should be fine.
