Good morning everyone,

We filed AOS from K1 in October 2013 and my wife received her combo card on January 3rd, 2014. I understand that around half the people will have an interview and half do not have an interview. I also know if you have an interview your green card will normally be received a lot faster. For the people that filed in October and received an interview notice or have already had an interview I have the following questions.

1. Did you receive your combo card before you had the interview?

2. How did you receive notice about the interview? I assume you received a letter but was the USCIS web site updated with the interview information also? Was the updated web site information available when you entered your MSC ID number?

3. From what I can tell by reading some of your posts it appears some of you had your interview before you even received your combo card which is great news and am happy to see things moving that fast.

4. My wife's combo card is good for one year (I know we can renew it if the green card is delayed). For those of you that received your green card is it good for two years from the date it was produced by USCIS?

Thanks in advance for any reply to my post.

May God Bless each and every one of you.

Happy New Year all,

I wonder if you could help me understand my current AOS status.

On October 3rd, I submitted my spouse's applications.

Her I-797C has a notice date of October 9th:

Your case is being processed at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you.

I would appreciate any insight regarding this application status.

Thank you

Hi cleverodra, have you tried looking up your wife's receipt number at the USCIS Website yet? It you can check her case status there. https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do

Good afternoon Mrs. Presson,

Thank you for your advice.

We've checked the status before and it has not changed.

I wonder if anyone in Los Angeles has been awarded an interview letter for K-1 based AOS?

Thank you.

Hi JohnE, i know the questions are for those who already have had their interviews and GC's but let me try to answer -some- of your questions as best as I can. I adjusted from K1 too. :)

Good morning everyone,

Thanks in advance for any reply to my post.

May God Bless each and every one of you.

1. All the people I know from another group of Q4 2013 Filers have received their Combo Cards first before they had the interview.

2. The status on the USCIS Website -ideally- should change. But knowing some updates aren't reflected on the website.. We can't say for sure. Have you signed up for automatic SMS/Email updates on the Website? My I-485's last status was on November 6th when I filed for Change of Address. Got my EAD notice (Nov 27) and received the card (Dec 4th) but no interview alerts/mail yet.

3. Yup! It does happen. Some would just skip to the end. Happy for you too, lucky people! :P

4. Just making an assumption: My EAD Card approval (online) notice was Nov 27th. It says on the card: valid from Nov 27th 2013 to Nov 26th 2014. The GC should be the same... in theory. (Anybody who already has the GC clear this up? I'd like to know too. :D)

1. Yes, I received my combo card prior to the interview

2. 2 notices were sent to me (USCIS WEBSITE). 1st was the Testing & Interview - waiting for an interview slot at the local USCIS Office, 2nd would be the Interview date and notifying me they have sent the interview notice with details.

4. After our interview, the IO explained to us that they will issuing us a 2year Conditional Green Card. He also talked about the 90days/3month window to apply for the Removal of Condition (ROC) prior to the 2nd Anniversary of the GC. The issuance date would be the Interview day according to some threads that I have read.

Thank you Mrs. Preston and Vazpayne for your reply. Thanks for confirming that I thought the green card was supposed to be a two year conditional card. Vazpayne the time between your combo card and green card was super, almost record fast. Congratulations to you. As I read through some members posts I was wondering if some people received their combo card and got confused and posted up they received the conditional green card. At this point we are happy to have a combo card and am able to travel out of the country.

God Bless

Sorry it has taken me ages to get back, but the interview was easy.

We got to the office about 15min early. Walked in and security ran our bags, (they made fun ovof how much stuff I brought Lol) walked into a room with rows of chas and a small tv on the wall, no clock which I hated bc our phones were off. Put my interview notice into the slot in the wall. Then, we sat down and waited for our attorney... Just a few min later a man opened the door and called our name ( I panicked a little bc the atty wasnt there yet) and I asked him if I could wait for her, he said sure and closed the door. A couple of min later she showed up and the man popped back out and we walked to the room.

He asked litterally nothing about our marriage, asked to see a few originals and only asked my hunny his name and what he did for a living. Lol. Asked me my name, my parents names, and our kids names, a couple of other questions and boom done. Handed me a paper that he just had on the desk and said your 10 year gc is approved and it will be mailed to you in 30days.

I couldnt believe it! So I said "this is the happiest day of my life!" And my atty says "what about your wedding, your kids?! (With a smile) and I was like well yea, but THIS is going to give them a better future so can go to school and.get a great job and help my hubby support our family. I was on cloud nine! Lol

When we walked back into the waiting room we were all smiling so big so I gave everyone in there a fist pump in the air. Lol im sure they thought I was nuts. Haha. So happy. Approved on 12/30 and received GC on 01/04!

After being here since 1994, married for almost 8 years and 4 kids later. Im finally a LPR. Thank you all for your help and for going through this process with me...Kept me sane through a lot of it. Lol. Good luck to you all and I wish nothing but the best!!

Entered on B2 with parents in 1994.

I got a letter from USCIS "Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Case". I don't know if we need to do anything regarding it. Based from what I read, the interview waiver makes it longer to get approved for the AOS >.< We don't mind though, at least that gets us a chance to build more evidence for our married life and get full time jobs till they decide they might want to interview us. Did anybody else get the letter too, and did you call USCIS to confirm this or is it just for notification and a reply from us (the petitioners) isn't really needed?

And congrats to everyone who got their GC! <3

Sorry to hear that. :( At least you have your EAD right? :D I believe there's no correspondence needed for this. It's a wait-till-you-hear-from-us type of notice.

Firstly congrats to everyone who have received their combo cards and recently Green Cards :)

I just have a quick question: I received my EAD card mid decemeber, and my 1-485 status is still on acceptance. Is this just a case of "no news is good news" and we most likely wont be needed for interview and the GC will be processed slower?

Thank you

P.s, I will have to do both paper and driving test for my drivers licence here in Illinois.

We're almost the same with our timeline and received my EAD around the same time. My I-485 is still on acceptance too. So it's either you might get the interview waiver or you may be hearing for an interview schedule sometime soon. I got the interview waiver letter so my GC might take a while.
