765 and 131 delivered separately. 485 still under evidence review. The Mrs. is going back home in a couple of weeks to take care of family stuff and set up the wedding, but I'd be a lot more comfortable going back on a green card rather than the AP document when she returns in a couple of months.

Looking back at this whole adjustment process, I would have done a couple of things differently (California-specific):

* I would have applied for her SS card before the civil wedding.

* Applied for her DMV ID/license before her I-94 passes 30 days.

Having both of those during her adjustment process would have been more convenient and allowed her to be eligible for employer-based health coverage, but alas, we'll just have to make do until the green card is on her hand.

I know what you mean hb - this board has been invaluable to me too since we first filed for the K1 - more helpful than our attorney most of the time which is a bit sad lol! I see some cases where people waited so much longer and some times it's the luck of the draw so I'm just glad ours is moving along and at least we're together. Thanks and good luck to you too!! smile.png

i totally agree. I was thinking about hiring a lawyer, somehow, it is so expensive. I heard it might cost 2000usd.. I have fairly simple case, no complications at all. So I think i handled it pretty well. But this does not mean everyone else do not need one.LOL.

Is there any of you who got only EAD and later AP? Also, according to location of the mail sent by uscis provided at web-site of usps, it seems that my card was sent to old address.cray5ol.gif

We just got the Combo Card Work Authorization and Advance Parole Card in mail today. Why does it say on the bottom Serves as I-512 Advance Parole if the document filed was I-131 Advance Parole? Not big deal, just curious. Any thoughts how much longer before we hear back from NBC regarding I-485 pending application? We haven't heard anything since NOA1 and it's still on Acceptance status on USCIS website.

We got ours after and issued in married name. Yes the office can be a pain but our local office did it without hassle.

We weren't lucky. We went to the SS office in Glendora with 20 days left on the I-94. The attendant said something about the K-1 visa being nullified once we got married. She said we should have applied for SSN before the civil. Only evidence she would accept after the civil are EAD, green card, or letter from my employer authorizing SSN application for benefits enrollment.

Was able to change my name at SSA today! Card's going to be mailed in within 10 days. biggrin.png

I'm very happy to see updates and good news!!!! This forum is helping me to stay calm! Since no news from uscis, and they make me feel so nervous!! Good luck to everyone!!!!!

How's it going with you? Any good news yet? smile.png

Yeah, that was what we did after we got married. (Given that it was 2 weeks after my POE). Reading older VJ posts and threads, it was suggested to fix those right away after POE. Some were able to file under their married name. I wasn't able to though. Because they went with my i-94 name. So I just changed my name today at SSA. They looked for my Passport, SSA Card with Maiden Name, EAD Card and Marraige Certicate.

hey guys! our NOA 1 (k1 visa) was on october,21. biometrics were November 13. and since then there has been no update on the uscis website. it's still on intial review and acceptance. is it normal?

I'd say you're still well within your 2-month mark. Hold on a little longer, you'd get to hear news soon. It's your 57th day today. Most of us got news on the 60+ days from NOA1 smile.png

My EAD got approved today! Wohoo!

Congrats to you, too! Yeah, I suppose people who apply for just EAD have different wording at the bottom. Mine has that I-512 Advanced Parole too. Nothing on my I-485 yet. Mine's on Initial Review because of my Change of Address from before.

Just curious why on the SSN?

We got ours after and issued in married name. Yes the office can be a pain but our local office did it without hassle.

Our local office didn't allow me to register under my married name, even if I had my marraige certificate in August. Boo.

You did file a change of address online before, right? I mean, right after you moved / before you got your EAD/AP approval?

Well my card is delayed for three days. Just got an update it's in Warrensburg now at least. Hope I can finally get it tomorrow. How's job hunting everyone?

At least you know where it is. It will arrive soon enough. biggrin.png

Regarding the job hunt, it's a small university town. Nothing here in-line with my expertise. Plus, it's the holidays. More companies will be hiring first quarter of next year. biggrin.png Also, miraculously, my husband got another pay raise! Second time this year. YAY.
