And Batman, you did ask a good question as to who will manage the cashflow problem. I can't believe that the gov would make people spend more than they can afford and then pay them back later, so it leads me to believe that the "subsidy" is immediate and the insurance company is the one that deals with the cashflow issue.

Hopefully everyone will know exactly how it works very soon.

At enrollment time, you decide what happens to the Advanced Tax Credit ("subsidy"). You can either let the Feds apply it towards your premium and you only pay the balance (if there is one) OR you can pay upfront and get the money credited to your return when you file.

seems to me it is still cheaper to not have insurance, then always go to an emergency room for your care, and don't worry about paying..

You are free to do that, for sure. However, you need not wait for the ACA in order to stick your irresponsibility to someone else.

In fact, the model above is precisely what the GnOP deems acceptable and American, given their relentless attempts to repeal the ACA.

Ironic isn't it, that the progressive president should have enacted a law promoting personal responsibility and the republicans want to do away with it.

The monthly premiums are based on income. As are deductibles and co-pays. Nobody is expected to pay full premiums and wait until tax time to get the money back.

Good. Batman needs to know.

The savings comes from the fact that a visit to the doctor's office costs $100.00. A visit to the ER costs $1,000.00.

That's cheap. I know somebody who received two separate bills after a short visit to a local ER here in Nashville. The doctor wanted $600 and the hospital itself wanted another $1200.

But the horror of being covered by health insurance! cray5ol.gif

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.
