The Obama administration issued misleading figures about terrorist plots foiled by the National Security Agency’s warrantless mass-collection of records of Americans’ every phone call, NSA chief Gen. Keith Alexander admitted to lawmakers Wednesday.

Mr. Alexander also acknowledged that only one or two of the cases cited by senior officials at previous hearings had actually been foiled by the NSA’s vast database.

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who testified alongside Gen. Alexander, told the hearing that the number of plots foiled should not be the only metric by which the success of the program is measured. “I think there’s another metric here that’s very important. … I would call it the peace-of-mind metric.”

Really peace of mind metric…..is that a reason to invade privacy of individuals.

Program could have been in place for long time nobody is asking since when the program is in place.

Then don’t get in front of media and try to justify why the surveillance program is needed, don’t call the guy traitor coz he exposed you.

Don’t come out and give the misleading figures how the surveillance program has saved the Americans from terrorist plots.

What is peace of mind metrics? Do they expect ppl to just believe it?

Do you really believe Clinton believed the answer and there was no way for him to find out about it? Possible Clinton asked the wrong question he should had asked about Groom Lake or Horney Airport.

Clinton did not promise the transparency and change, which Obama did.

To my point time after time, incident after incident Obama admin has never proved to be any better than any of the previous one.

And THAT is why you build your own guns and have a concealed carry permit. Right? I am just so shocked that the same people who will trash the 2nd amendment will trash the 4th amendment...but only when the guy they voted for is doing it. When the other guy does it, then the sky is falling and we need their guy to fix it.

Obama ran for election on the promise that he was going to FIX all the problems of GWB and end this practice. He did not invent it, our founding fathers included the 4th amendment 200+ years ago because they knew oppressive governments ivaded people's privacyTHEN and they knew they would do so by any means possible.

Obama has not fixed it. The Patriot Act is legislation, not the Constitution. For the first two years Obama had a rubber stamp congress and he did nothing about this. He covered it up. The NSA is an administrative agency, he could de-fund the wiretapping with a signature on an executive order today.

Saying that he cannot fix this is saying he is incapable...and I am NOT OK with that.If all this stuff is "Bush's fault" then SOMETHING ought to be Obama's responsibility. He is incapbale of handling Assad, Putin, the UN, the economy John Boehner and the NSA. What else?
