Here is my interview experience,

My husband (USC) and I had our aos interview today in Irving, TX. Earlier this year we filed our package and was schedule for an interview in June in Oklahoma City, but my husband had to move to TX for work so we had our address changed and they moved our case here.

The appointment was at 1pm but we didn't get called in until about 1.30pm. The lady who took us in was nice though she didn't smile or show any friendliness through her face expression at all but her tone of voice was nice. It was me who tried to smile all the time. She had us sworn and sat down. We were asked for our IDs, social security cards and passports. Then she went further with our information, name, date of birth, recent address. We were asked to show anything that had TX address so we gave her our apartment lease and we just gave her other documents that we had brought with us; apartment lease, life insurance through work that shows I'm his beneficiary, copy of health insurance card that has my husband's name and the holder and my name as dependent, copy of Cosco membership card and my husband's latest bank statement shows that he paid for my phone bill and credit card. (We don't have a joint bank account because we wanted to wait until I get a job but so far I'm working on my driver's license) She went to make a copy.

When she came back we both were asked if we had any other first name/last name. We both never been married but I was born with a different name and had my name changed in 1993. She asked me when I had my name changed and I didn't remember the year I only remembered that it happened when I was in 2nd year of secondary school so I had to look for my paper in my folder. She looked confused as if I had a criminal background but later she found my name change document that was already submitted with the original package.

Then she went on questions like how did we meet, when did we meet and when did we start dating. We answered that we met in my country, we had the same friend who introduced us to one another then he started coming to my church. This with no problem but when it came to this question about our life in the US, she asked did we live together before marriage I said yes and no. We lived together in his mom's house but in different bedroom and she questioned us why. So my husband answered because we were living in his mom's house and we weren't married. Then she asked further when did we start sleeping in the same bedroom and I said after we got married. She just looked at us like ............ I can't explain her face expression. It was more like ???????? puzzled!! like really? there are still people who live in the same house but not in the same bedroom? This part worried me. We gave our truthful answer but I had no idea if she liked the answer or not since she made no other expression on her face. Then she went to the questions.. and I answered NO.... all the way!

We spent only 10 minutes there. She took my i94 but didn't take my work permit or stamp anything in my passport. She just said that they need to do the background check and once it's through and if we're approved we will be given a letter in a week or two and it is the same if they need anything from us. She explained the condition of the green card. I asked her if we would know the result our case by letter (instead of asking her straight if we're approved) and showed her the pictures that we had brought with us she said she had seen some already and she wouldn't want anymore then the last thing I heard she said was 'You're set for today'.

My husband was quite satisfied but I wasn't sure what to expect. BUT a few mins before I wrote this I checked my status online and it said 'On October 1, 2013, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.......'

Yeahhhhhhhhhh

The only thing I can say is ....if your marriage is real then you shouldn't be worried. Just make sure you storm them with lots and lots of documents that they need or more than what they need. I didn't get to show a lot of things like Christmas cards from our friends to us, my father in law's letter to me (just to show that I have a close relationship with his family), I made sure that whatever I ordered online would come in both our names and I kept the envelopes/packages as evidence ( I had to murder some of the boxes and take the address label out). We didn't have joint bank account. He pays for my credit card and we just printed out my credit card history to compare with his bank statement. Before I got married I overstayed my b1/b2 visa (actually we filed for visa extension but got denied then we got married and filed for aos). As long as you come prepared, shut every door that you can then I guess you're gonna be ok. goofy.gif

p.s. I had heavy breakfast and that was it because I didn't want lunch to make me have to use the bathroom while I was at the USCIS. But during our interview while the officer was seeing our file my stomach made weird noise..not only once but 3 times and my husband and I couldn't help giggling about it. Personally, I don't think it was appropriate but on the other side the way that we giggled might show her our relationship..haha
