So now I live to live where the schools are good instead of living wherever I gotdamn choose?

you people got it all backasswards

Interesting point:

I used to know a bunch of filipino teachers who taught black in maryland school districts because

no one else would take the job! The school had to go overseas to hire teachers to teach these poor black kids,,want to guess why?

thier parents (if they had one) were druggies,,,inmates and the like,,,name me one school comprised 100% of down and out white kids publicly funded

My husband is a teacher in MD; your generalizations are terribly racist.

The interesting question is how accurate or otherwise they are.

I still think that obamacare will be a failure..

The Medicare system is already up and running.. My suggestion is to put everyone in Medicare, they must pay monthly premiums or the government can easily take premium payments when people file their tax returns. If this causes people to receive a tax bill from the government, so be it... The IRS can always make people pay.

As I said, the medicare system is already in place.. If people who work at insurance companies, claims processors, ect..if they lose their jobs at an insurance company, they should all be hired by medicare to perform those functions.

There, nice and easy, everyone has medicare coverage for health insurance..

no one has to deal with health exchanges,

Yes this is government one-payor, national healthcare... everyone over the age of 65 already has it. so whats the big deal???

well with all the $$ you were making from your overpaid contractor job,,healthcare would have been a drop in the bucket for you

who or where exactly do you think your salary came from as a contractor,,yeah,,thats right,,me! the us taxpayer

Niblet, I'm not a contractor. I'm a sailor. You know, serving my country? And yes, USTRANSCOM did send supplies to WWII, not to mention the Korean War, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Yes they are, I'm trying to open his eyes, but he seems to have them glued shut.

Totally agree except for the part where all people currently employed by private insurance will be employed by the Medicare system. Medicare overhead is less than 5%. Private insurance overhead is at least double but probably triple that. So a lot more people work in the current, fractured private system than are needed to expand Medicare to all. People would be displaced. A lot of people. Plus you'd have a lot of personnel at doctors and medical billing offices that would no longer be required. And no, that's not an argument against Medicare for all it's an argument in favor. Because from a macroeconomic point of view, all these people that are employed due to the inefficiencies of the current model are sucking energy out of the economy that could better be used productively.

What's even more interesting is there wasn't any other way to put his statement. Or is there?

uh. this morning i got trapped by a warehouse guy who decided to school me on the travesty that is obamacare. i don't scrap with people i work with about politics or otherwise. this morning i learned fear mongering is most certainly the gops most effective tool.

here's a grown man losing his collective shite, at work, regurgitating lines i've heard a bajillion and two times at this point. i respond with something like, seems pretty inevitable and people are always apprehensive to change and he can only talk about death panels. "did you know that canadians lie about the existance of their death panels? did you know how many canadians come to america for catscans? do you really want the government to have access to your medical records"

dunno. nothing he was saying made sense. probably because it was all bits and pieces of various soundbites and talking points.

he was asking me if i had heard any whispers of our boss getting rid of his health insurance plan, since he has less than 50 employees. for some reason, he wasn't satisfied with my answer (i'm not worried about it, doesn't seem like a logical move on our employer's part). i think he needed more terror, more fear. my answer should have involved death, destruction and utter chaos..

Anytime facts point out a glaring truth that is uncomfortable

ITS RACIST

Don't know how we can ever fix the problem if we can't even admit it is real.

Funny how that fact had nothing to do with the conversation. That's the ONLY time race comes up, as a dig towards black people.

You didn't hear, ole Connor MacCleod didn't discriminate, he got it in with one of my ancestors. When you've been alive for that many centuries, you do what you can with what you got:)
