No current information on Europe, but in the UK it does not look good. My usual comment is the NHS was bad but on balance the US is worse.

I hear complaints about Canada but no personal experience.

Universal health care works great. In Europe. I've seen and lived it. Far superior to what we have here and far less expensive.

I had no idea how f'ed up our health care system was until I used it

I bet most people that think it's so great have not used it for much more than an office visit recently

I can get comparable care with similar outcomes in the Philippines for 5% of the cost at a private hospital

We spend more per GDP than almost any developed nation. I hate to admit MBD may be right about most of this. I been doing a lot of research

Now turning it all over to the insurance companies is madness.Obama care is insane

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_in_the_United_States

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the United States spent more on health care per capita ($8,608), and more on health care as percentage of its GDP (17.9%), than any other nation in 2011. The Commonwealth Fund ranked the United States last in the quality of health care among similar countries, and notes U.S. care costs the most. In a 2013 Bloomberg ranking of nations with the most efficient health care systems, the United States ranks 46th among the 48 countries included in the study.[5]

There should have been a public option as part of the PPACA - of course you and other right wingers would have freaked out even more if that had happened - to put pressure on private insurers to compete with an option as efficient as Medicare. They can't compete with that and they know it. But that's what will need to happen eventually. No more billion dollar golden parachutes - yes, billion with a B, you read that right - for health insurance CEO's. Health insurance is not something to profit from. Period. Health insurance is there so that people are covered when they get sick. Like Medicare. Like they do it in any other developed country whether there's a single payer system or a not for profit private insurance system. It works. It works well. Better than anything private, for profit insurance companies will ever be able to produce.

I think i will stop right here.

Sure. Stop here. You can keep pretending that our healthcare system is better than that of other developed nations but that's all you'd be doing: pretending. The reality is different.

I had Private Insurance in the UK.

Why you ask when the NHS is so wonderful?

Lived there for 3 years, no issues. Still don't see what the problem is.

NHS is a ####### shoot, Private Medical Insurance was $30 a month and my Employer paid 75% of it.

My personal experience was #######, but like I say slightly better than the US. And at half the cost.

Actually when I got out of the Army, I was there under the German system. My son was born in a german hospital. For all care I had to go to downtown Wurzburg. So, learn the facts before you insult someone.

And for the record, you claim to hate lazy people, yet you can't be bothered to use spellcheck and proper grammar. Just saying...
