Hello all,

I'm waiting for the interview date in the embassy (I already have been approved) for K-1 VISA.

What do I need to do in order to be able to work in USA ? ... Do I need to do something now ? ... Do I have to do that once I'm there ? ....

I don't want my fiance to be my "sugar mama" .. hahaha ...

Well, unless you have some money saved, she's going to be your sugar momma for a while. You have to go through the AOS process. You can also get a temp EAD when you arrive to the USA, depending on which airport is your POE. But it's only valid for 30 days. After that you have to quit your job wait for the AOS. Good luck on your wait!

Plan on 3 months before you can work depending on when you file your EAD and AOS

Most people apply for the work permit at the same time as the AOS application, because AOS usually takes longer (although not always) and you can work with an interim work permit (EAD) until your AOS is approved and green card is received. You have to wait for it though. Right now it is taking more than 90 days to get an interim EAD. So, enjoy that sugar mama!

Some people who enter on K1 are lucky to get a temporary EAD stamp in their passport. TThe K1 EAD is only good for 90 days.

Check out the guides...there is lots of information there.

Buena suerte with your interview!
