CFO Question - A second time?

Hello, my wife has gone through the CFO process once before and gotten the sticker for a K-1 visa (Different petitioner). Now that she's trying to get a CR-1 visa, will she have to redo this process?

If she does not, then:

-She wants to have her passport changed for her new name, would she have to redo the CFO in this case? If so, then would it be better just to keep using her current passport and not have to deal with that?

If she does have to redo it, then:

-Is there anyway to bypass this? Such as a round trip ticket to another country, like Japan, with a flight already set up to come here from Japan?

She absolutely despises the CFO with passion and is willing to do whatever to not have to go through that again.

Thank you for any help!

To do the name change CFO is required. CFO is not that big of a bear. Better to do the name change now that try an end game and have issues later.

Thank you for your response.

So if she were not to do a name change the she would not have to go through the CFO again?

Does she currently have a CFO sticker in her passport?

I am thinking DFA might accept that for doing the name change, then she only needs to get a new sticker once she has her new passport. Does she still have her certificate from attending before?

The was I am reading things, CFO is a one time thing.

Just my opinion...

She does have the sticker in her passport and she still has the certificate as well. I was under the impression that it was a one time thing as well, but didn't know how a new stickerless passport would factor into it. Thank you for your responses :)

Seems I read of someone not long ago getting a new passport, then taking the certificate and her new passport over to CFO.... done.

Another way... have her bring BOTH passports along (she might need the old one for proof of maiden name in the US later on anyways). When she shows current (married) passport with no CFO, she could then show CFO sticker in old passport.
