Thanks for introducing me to this series of web videos. I really like the topics and I definitely can relate to this one, especially about standing toe to toe. I had one sister come to me and tell me that because we are women we don't have to stand toe to toe and that explained why her daughter kept moving her foot over. I really did feel like I was doing the splits ha ha. Anyway, a Muslim is a Muslim and salat is the same for all Muslims no matter what the gender.

Thanks for the video!

hey :) thanks!

The only thing about this particular video that I don't like is that the introduction is almost 3 minutes long. It's not a problem though coz the rest of it is really good.

My son has a terrible habit of wanting to come and ask questions at prayer time. Most of my distractions (since I'm new) are..I hope I'm doing this right, and I worry that the phone will ring or something. The cats also like to come in and play with the tassles on the prayer rugs..silly kitties... do you smash'em or push them out of the way?... I'm also very much looking forward to seeing everybodies answers....

Amal, quick question. When you say you are new to this, does this mean you are a new Muslim?

yes, I am a new Muslim. I don't remember the date but it was a few months back.

The Prophet (saws) loved cats. There is a story I have read that has been attributed to both the Prophet (saws) or Ali (ra), where a cat came and fell asleep on his cloak. When he wanted to get up, rather than disturb the cat, he cut away the portion of the cloak under the cat.

When I lived in a house with cats, and they would fluff around on my rug during salat, I would do my best to make the best use of the part of the rug they weren't on, and gently nudge them out of the way if absolutely necessary.
