Thank you for the link,

I saw this on the news about an hour ago; however, I could not find any source online confirming it which leads me to believe the news were speculation. That said I am going to mention it as a warning:

Basically while reporting about government shutdown and its effects on Government agencies it was mentioned that the US Embassy in Mexico would shut down and all appointments for visas and passport would be "canceled."

They made no mention of other US Embassies around the world. So while again I cannot find any news elsewhere confirming it I suggest people who have interviews to probably call and find out to be safe. I remember reading someone has their interview on October 2nd so I guess then we will know for sure.

Eitherway here is hoping this shutdown ends soon before we are forced to see any delays to our applications because of less staff or shutdown of visa processing if it comes to that. It's already slow enough as it is now to have to worry about one more thing. I suggest everyone picks up the phone and the email and starts bombarding their reps and sen.

I am curious as to what effect this will have on the new Kansas Center and its supposed plan to start processing I-130s now.

Always double check your documents and forms. Not only do you get delayed by RFEs and Checklists, but the time it takes for them to review the new items you send could be used to approve more applications. Save yourself and others valuable time!

Current Status: NVC:
-Assigned and Received NVC Case Number, IIN, and BIN April 18, 2014. (100% sure case # was assigned today because I called twice and it wasn't assigned in the morning when they opened but in the afternoon it was)

Thanks for posting this-I know many of us are wondering how this will impact processing times for whatever stage we are in.

I hope these stats result in tangible good news: it looks like 97% of the USCIS will be staffed and functional (scroll to Homeland Security): http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/politics/2013-shutdown-federal-department-impact/m/
