Do i have to email choice of agent to nvc even though beneficiary is minor? Thanks in advance

There's no more emailing the DS-3032. The form has been replaced by the online DS-261. Read the FAQ above on info about it. But yes, everyone needs to submit it, otherwise the IV bill won't be invoiced.

You can also try nearer to closing at midnight EST. I heard that's a pretty good time as well.

That's actually more do-able! Thanks Saylin! good.gif

Yes, we were in Santa Ana, Orange County - until we were moved to LA (started off at NBC). I found out where my file was by calling USCIS incessantly during the 3 month period.. they can tell where the file is... and when it leaves. Hoping you won't have the delay we did - the CSC should be better than the LA office. Good luck!

If it's not at NVC by next week, I will call USCIS. Thanks for that info, Rand! I really have been lucky with CSC so far. I should be patient. I mean, I got NOA2 within 3 weeks....good.gif

Here is a link to book an appointment for info pass. http://infopass.uscis.gov/ . You can look for USCIS office that shows within your zip code and book an appointment. It's hard to get appointment via info pass. You might need to check few times to see if there is an open slot.

I would recommend to contact senator/Congresswoman as early as possible because inquiry itself takes around 3-4 weeks to get you an answer from them. Try to do both your local congressman/congresswoman and as well as Senator(Dianne Finestien for california i think)

Thanks!

Thanks Nick! I will certainly touch base with my Congress woman. I did contact her already, but now the situation has changed since I got a NOA2 so fast. I actually contacted Senator Boxer.

I tried once at 11:45pm EST.... the line cut at 11:57pm EST... so anyone calling late, give yourself more than 15 mins.

As an aside.... I'm rooting for a flood of Case completes in the next couple of weeks! We just can't have another September.... kicking.gif (that's the closest to a cheerleader I saw LOL)

That's what USCIS did to me at about 5:47pm on the phone, when their phone line closes at 6:00pm! I'm hoping for the same. I'll dance with you! kicking.gifjest.gif (and add a jester for fun!)

Thanks Saylin for helping us out with these NVC threads! I'm so bummed about this government nonsense. I ordered my tax transcripts almost 3 weeks ago now. Not going to get them anytime soon with IRS closed. I'm hoping my parents' accountant can send my tax returns with theirs. I am so antsy to get everything sent in!

I also ordered my transcripts early last week and was told they would be here within 5-7 days. Now I can only hope they're in the mail. This timing just sucks for all of us, with regards to the government... Good luck!!!

Case Complete ! I received a checklist from NVC, so I called them. They send the checklist, because, I sent 2 pdf photos, and they don't accept photos through EP. The woman, looked through my case, and said, all the other papers are in order, and then said the 2 words, we all want to hear from NVC, Case Complete ! ^__^

It took 15 days, to get my case completed, after, I sent in all the papers. Now if they can send our case to the Embassy, in a timely manner, my wife, can be here, for the holidays ! I'm hoping for Thanksgiving .

WOOOHOOOO! Congrats!!! What did you actually have to do to get to "Case Complete?" I hope your wife can be here for the holidays, too!!! halloween.gif

Hi all,

Recently got I 130 approved. (10/01/2013).

  • Does the Visa being current apply to me? or do i have to wait

Been reading thru the FAQs so as to get familiar.

DS 261 : Choice of agent

DS 260: Visa Application

  • If i understand both has to be done online.
  • Is it safe to assume that at no point during the whole NVC process ( except during interview) t Beneficiary signature is required.
  • Do we still need to send them a paper copy ( DS 260) with all the other civil documents??

Thanks

As far as I know, being current only matters about getting the interview date, not the actual package processing. So, no, I don't think you need to wait.

Yes, both forms are done online. With both being online, no, the beneficiary does not sign anything during the NVC process anymore. You don't send the paper DS-230 (or a printed out DS-260) to include. It's all done online and NVC will have it in their systems.

Thanks Saylin for the reply

Also forgot to mention that I'm currently PR ( will be USC by Jan).

  • Doesn't the F2A visa follow priority date??

If yes,

  • Is the priority date on the NOA-1 or NOA-2 ?? ( I haven't received my NOA-2 yet so can't compare yet
  • The visa bulletin for Oct 2013 shows 08SEP13 for F2A. Am i assuming it corretcly to mean that anyone who has a priority date before 08SEP13 should expect to be processed??

Thanks

Yes, visas for permanent residents actually use the priority date. It's on the NOA1. For NVC processing, priority date doesn't matter. Not until the interview date comes into play. Once your case is complete, it'll be put into queue with everyone else. Only once your priority date is current (not to mention an open interview slot at your consulate/embassy) will an interview date be assigned.

Hey Saylin (or whoever else can help),

I have one more question related to the tax stuff I was asking about!

If I only know my adjusted gross income for 2010 due to having the 1040X form instead of a regular 1040 form, do you think I can use that value instead of the total gross income for the I-864? Does it really matter? I plan on just submitting my 2012 tax transcript since that is all I have right now and the government is shut down for who knows how long! They are taking forever to send me my 2011 and 2010 return transcripts. I was going to send my husband the 2011 and 2010 tax transcripts once I get them in case he needs them for the interview. But, if I find out that the tax transcripts indicate a different "total" gross income (from the "adjusted" gross income on the 1040X form), will this be a problem? I was a student in 2010, so I am sure that tuition and fees probably were accounted for in the adjusted gross income.

Does the government really care if I report my adjusted gross income from that year?

It unfortunately has to be the right, exact amount. Anything otherwise and you may get a checklist.
