Photocopies of the birth and marriage certificate are included so the originals/certified copies can be returned back after an approved interview. You won't get a checklist for not including it, it's just recommended.

Haha, glad you found the original NOA2. I had an A number assigned to me before I started the process, so sorry I didn't catch that. I didn't know when "regular" beneficiaries got assigned A numbers, when they don't have them assigned before hand.

No worries:) I didnt catch it either. I also had an A number assigned to me before I started the process. I guess its different for each visa type. My original one was K1, long time ago:) The one we re doing now is F2A(my mom petitioned my sister)

I wanted to put in my 2 cents regarding photocopies, I dont remember sending it backk when I was going through NVC, has something changed? So if someone doesnt send photocopies with the original, does it mean original document is not going to be returned?

No, it doesn't necessarily mean the original/certified copies won't be returned back, but it's one less thing for them to scan and make a copy of. It's basically just eliminating one thing they need to do.

So without photocopies they will not return the originals/certified copies?

Hi RedPepper.

Thank you for your responce to my post about case complete duration.

Now I read something you wrote that I find also asa great idea- the screenshot of pages we look at- now... How do you do screenshot on a labtop ?? hahah. thanks-

No problem! Always a pleasure to help!

On making screenshots:

On a Mac:

hold down shift+command+3 (to get the whole screen)

hold down shift+command+4 (to select or choose just a part of the screen you like to take a photo of)

***your screen shots are auto-saved on your desktop

On Windows:

1) be sure the image you like to record is on display.

2) on your keyboard 'hit' print screen

3) open a photo-editing program like Windows Paint or Adobe Photoshop

4) Paste or Ctrl V on a NEW canvass

5) Save file as~ assign a file name

NOTE: Haven't been on Windows for a while. But Wikihow gives complete detail:

On that note---they are requiring certified translations of the documents again. Should I submit another copy of translations, even though they were submitted in my original application? It just seems redundant...but if it's required, I'll make more copies, of course. We only submitted copies of the divorce decree, for example, not an original--but the translation was submitted and has not/will not change.

Second question--I was able to pay my AOS fee and it now says, "In Process." But, I can not pay my IV fee? Am I now just in holding mode until I get some news from NVC? Is there anything I can be doing in the meantime?

Thanks!

Although it may seem redundant, NVC is a different agency than USCIS. So, even though some items are the same, don't think you don't need to send them. You still do. Otherwise you'll just get a checklist.

The AOS and IV are two separate, independent tracks that have nothing to do with one another. The IV fee is dependent on the DS-261 being accepted and added to the case file. Please go back to post 1 and review the flowchart I made as this should clear it up.

Thanks Saylin. So, I saw your flowchart and the notes you made today. I'm getting confused since there are two tracks, one is called IV, but yet, I have to pay IV Processing fees. The same letters, but obviously not the same thing. What I do need to do is have hubby do his DS-260 because he did the DS-261. He's not able to find it though. Do we need to wait for them to send that? (Just re-read your post and looks like we do need to wait.) We're kind of stuck anyway until his police clearances arrive...but I can't print the cover sheet yet. I guess that is going to take another few days...

Yes, there's two tracks: IV and AOS. Uh, confused about what you're confused about. IV is IV. It is the same thing.

The DS-260 only becomes available after the IV fee has been processed. The IV bar-coded cover sheet becomes available after the IV bill has been paid.

With the old I-864 form, I would have agreed with the representative and said to not leave any fields blank. But with all the new forms that were released a few months ago, you can now leave fields blank if they're not applicable or the answer is none. Read the instructions to confirm ;)

Yeah, first time being denied wasn't their fault though. I was naive and knew nothing about the process, and thought I could do something which I couldn't. So, I'm okay with it. Plus the guy was real nice about it (compared to the second time I was denied in which the guy was a real @$$ to say the least).

But yup, everything worked out in the end, so :)

Yeah, twice in the span of like 1.5 weeks. Kinda brutal. After the second denial, I didn't attempt to visit the US again. Didn't want to get banned.
