I have no idea if its a copy or certified copy-

born in Iran.

nothing to do but wait and see and hope it looks fine to them.

that is all we have

I would suggest including an explanation with your birth certificate, so they understand the situation (and thus be possibly more lenient).

For Iran, according to NVC, birth certificates aren't available, but there's something called identity certificates: http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9217#docs

Jenmatt,

That's very good news. Hope its all smooth from here on out.

By the way on you timeline.

9/24/2013 3:45PM - Initial Review Notification by Email & Text: Your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I130

What was that notification about? Was it supposed to be changed? Weren't you the one whose file was sent CSC instead?? Was it because of that??

Thanks

Hi Pob - when I asked the man at USCIS that question, he said it was actually my spouse's alien number that was changed, not mine. I was super confused, which is why I called, because I am a USC, not an Alien...so I didn't know why my alien # was changed. Seemed so strange. Yes, I'm the one who was sent to CSC which everyone here thought was strange. I guess I didn't know any better, until people here pointed out that it was unusual. I guess it still is unusual. I have only heard of one other case recently going to CSC.... Thank you for the good wishes and same to you! =)

Now that they have it, call every single day!

Looking at the instructions, I didn't find anything about it having to be an unexpired passport. Although, if you can send the paperwork before it expires, then technically the passport is still valid when they review it.

Are they planning to renew their passports? If so, I'd suggest bringing copies of their new passports to the interview, just in case. If not, they really should get certified copies of the birth certificate... (and then you can bring a copy of that to the interview).

For NVC, they require an original or certified copy of the beneficiary's birth certificate. It can't just be a photocopy. Can you not request from the issuing agency a certified copy of your BC?

Thanks Saylin! They told me 10-20 days. I wasn't sure that was right. I'll keep calling. Do you know the current timeframe for them entering the data into the system and giving me our ID #?

There's unfortunately no set time frame when it comes to this. Could just be a day or two, or it could be a few weeks. There's really no rhyme or reason with immigration headbonk.gif

Goodness....it's so illogical. I couldn't get away with that at work. I don't get how they do. Thanks for the answer though. goofy.gif Sitting on hold again to NVC...I'm going to start dreaming that I'm on hold to the NVC soon....lol!

Hi K and D

Apparently CSC has been approving F2A petitions rather quickly these days.( 14-60 days) . But then taking its own sweet time sending it to NVC. (6-8 weeks).

USCIS works in mysterious ways.

Keep us updated as I will aslo be following your footsteps.

Thanks

14 - 60 Days is unheard of! wow I'm really happy you guys got it so fast!

I had to go the CR1 route and married in Jan and sent off our I130 then. It took 7 whole months to get it approved and now stuck at NVC :(

Hi

Once both payments have been made to NVC- how long does it take for it to go from payment in process- to- paid.

and what's next. is this when I can then fill out the DS 261?

made the payment to NVC

When will it go from payment in processing- to - paid.

After it shows paid is when I can finally fill out ds 261- right?

Oct 9th - DS-261 completed.

Oct 10th - AOS fee paid.

Oct 15th - AOS package delivered to NVC.

I still do not have an option to pay the IV Application fee.

Is this a problem? How long should I wait for this to be available? The first/second page of this thread mentions that I might have to wait a week or two, is it the same currently?

The IV fee is only invoiced after the DS-261 has been accepted and added to the case file. The AOS timeline is irrelevant as that's its own separate track. What's the status of the DS-261 when you've been calling?

Just called, they received the DS-261 but hasn't been added to the case file. She said wait 3-4 more days.
