Visa approved, Administrative Processing

Hi

My fiancee's visa was approved at the Mumbai consulate. I should say, the interviewer said the visa was approved and would be sent out in 2-5 days, but my fiancee did not receive any paperwork. This was on 09/13/13. The status has updated 3 times, but continues to say ready to schedule the interview. From reading the forum, I guess all I can do is wait. When we call in, they say that the visa is undergoing administrative processing, which I don't understand since they did not tell us that. My brother's fiancee just went through the process, and she got the visa in 6 days.

My lawyer had indicated that continuing to call in to check the status may result in a negative decision, so I guess that is not a help. I have read here that contacting a local senator or congressman might help, but again my attorney is advising against that.

Senators cannot speed the process, just get info and give U on how far the process is,

as to AP they can do NOTHING...but Y would U , there is not even an interview yet

listen to your atty, U cannot go thru the system like speedy Gonzalez, there's many

ppl B4 U and each case is different...most in your country goes into long AP after

interview too

I understand just waiting, we were just annoyed that the interview officer said 2-5 days, and now they are saying AP and wait for whenever we feel like getting to it. Just to clarify, the interview was on September 13, 2013 so it already happened and they already made a promise they could not keep. That is the annoying part.

The system is stupid; they could have asked my fiancee more questions at the interview to avoid whatever problem there is. Why it takes them two months to come back and say you are missing a document/not filled out correctly (mind you that our immigration attorney looked at everything we brought to the interview). So, if there was a problem, they could have found it a lot faster at the interview. Also, why they can't update the system to indicate that they need to do additional checks is also beyond me.
