I-551 question about mortgage application

Hello,

Last November, I was granted the removal of conditions on my permanent residence. My card never arrived in the mail, so I filed an I-90 for a replacement card (on 5/1/13). I am still waiting to receive this. We are in the process of buying a home; and a few weeks ago the bank stated that they will need the physical plastic green card before giving us the 'clear to close'. I got an I-551 stamp after this, thinking that it would be sufficient (as it is my only option to prove my status - as far as I know). The bank came back and said this isn't sufficient, because it expires in 6 months. I tried to explain to them that it doesn't mean my STATUS expires in 6 months, just that the stamp does (because USCIS assumes I'll have my card by then). So far they still won't accept this. Any tips on how to make them understand that my status will not expire? Or would they be able to call USCIS to get the explanation from them? Basically, what else can I do?!

It's difficult to argue with idiots, of which this country has way too many. Unless you want to invest $350 for an attorney to write them a letter that will make 'em grasp for air, I'd say all you can do is wait for your new card to show up in the mail.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Filed our I-751 at the earliest possible date, all we got in return was that stinky one year extensions notice.

Wife's employer could be fined $16,300 for an undocumented person, we brought in a inch thick copy of our application, and downloaded data from the USCIS website, and after a couple of hours of explaining and their legal department checking, they didn't let her go.

Then the DMV, "what the hell is a one year extension notice" called the governors office, he appointed a new immigration officer like states have anything to do with immigration, but didn't know the first think about immigration. After a week of this, they finally contacted our DMV office and told them to issue my wife her driver's license.

Then our bank that loves to carry that crazy APA to the nth degree, didn't feel like arguing with those idiots, just found a much more reasonable bank to deal with. But then the next day the bank president calls me begging me to come back, sorry for the mistake. Just said, no thank you.

Suggest you do the same and while you are at it, try to find a savings & loan association of bank that doesn't sell your mortgage to these crooks on Wall Street.
