If LPR has to leave USA for 4-5 month then comeback for 2-3 month and then leave again for 4-5 month for not big family reason, is it going to be a problem with re-entry or getting citizenship when time come for citizenship comes?

Thank you

As a LPR you can leave the country as many times as you want. However any trips over 6 months may affect your ability to apply for citizenship. You shouldn't have any problems, though reentering the US with your plans.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

I'm definitely not an expert, but from what I've read, it sounds like an LPR has to be able to prove that their permanent residence is maintained in the US.

I found this link if it helps: http://www.immigrationsupport.com/pdf/maintaininglprstatus.pdf

But couldn't the LPR be questioned as to why he/she is spending 4-5 months at a time away form the USA and coming back for 2-3 months and leave again? It could look like they are not really living in the USA.

There is also a physical presence requirement, in the US, to be eligible for citizenship. All detailed on the N400 instructions.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

You need to have been in the usa for atleast 50% of the qualifying period if i recall. so on 5 year period need to have been in usa for 30 months.

You can always be questioned at the border why you traveling (again). But as long as LPR maintians the residence in US they can leave and enter US as many times as they want. This means not to forget to file tax returns and to be able to show binding ties to the US.
