45 days came and went and still no oath ceremony scheduling.

I called USCIS and they told me to wait another 30 days. sad.png

Hang in there! Almost a USC!

75 days to wait is a long time to wait. How did USCIS communicate the wait to you? Did you call the customer service line, or was this an infopass appointment? If it was just the customer service line, they really don't know about your case (details of the adjudications, etc.)

If you want a more thorough inquiry, I would suggest you make an infopass appointment. Those, in my experience, have been the most fruitful.

It was from the customer service line. I realized on the call, that it was basically worthless as the person talking to me could only see what I could see logged into the case site.

I just didnt know when the threshold gets crossed where its been too long of a wait and should get concerned?

Id have to travel back to Jacksonville to do an infopass and I just worried they would tell me to keep waiting. That might be what I need to do though.

We are still waiting on our interview date. We made an infopass appointment last week, and had our infopass meeting yesterday. They said they have now moved our file up to the top and we should be recieving our interview schedule in the next couple of weeks. The infopass officer was nice(from the philippines) and hopefully he was telling the truth. He did not indicate why we had been delayed but truely acted surprised when he looked at our dates. I will give update when interview is scheduled. Still anxiously waiting.

I agree with the statement that if you want information that the infopass is the only way to go. We had multiple calls, with no real help,,,

Customer service would not have the details of your exact file.

It's worth noting that there is significant backlog in the system right now for the N400. It appears that Jacksonville is approximately 7 months backedup. I am trying to imagine myself in your situation and I would be concerned of the long wait as well. I would make an infopass and sacrifice the distance and time just for me to be at ease.

Alternatively, you can hang tight, but I know that's tough especially when it comes to citizenship.

We completed our journey at the USCIS office in Atlanta this morning! We arrived slightly before 8AM as the oath ceremony letter instructed, and then participants were directed to a waiting room on the 2nd floor while friends and family were directed to a waiting room on the 3rd floor. We waited for a little over an hour before the ceremony could begin because of a software glitch that USCIS had been furiously trying to repair since the night before. At one point, they suggested to my husband that the whole ceremony could be cancelled, but thankfully that was not the case. They finally called us all into the ceremony room, and I sat about three rows back behind my husband, between friends and family members of other new citizens from Scotland and Jamaica. We watched a video with images of immigrants over the last hundred or so years, and then we were welcomed by a local official. She called the name of each country represented that day (54, I think) and asked each participant to stand as their country's names were called. Then she administered the oath, we listened to "The Star Spangled Banner", we said the Pledge of Allegiance, watched a welcome video from President Obama, and watched a music video for Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA". As the ceremony concluded, each row of participants (there were probably close to 100) was called to a window and issued their certificates of naturalization. Then it was over! The League of Women Voters were there to help new citizens register to vote, and everyone was free to take pictures with their friends and family. We were out by 10:30AM.

We drove out to the social security office to update John's record because we figured that since we had the day off, we might as well go ahead and get it taken care of now-- but we read in the packet of materials after we got home that you're supposed to wait 10 days! Whoops! We have an appointment to get a passport on April 18, and then we'll be all set.

Thank you so, so much to everyone in this thread and to VisaJourney in general. It has truly been a godsend in what has been a nerve-wracking process. America!

Hi MJC79 -

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing delays too! It is so frustrating to have no idea where in the "line" you are...for me it has been 110 days since I got a notice saying I would receive my interview notice within 90 days...and longer for you as you got your notice about 2 weeks before me.

The current processing times on USCIS website for N400 from NYC office claims 5.78 months...now I sent my application October 15th...so in theory should be completed by early to mid April...now, given that they havent even mailed my interview notice yet...I can't imaging that being anywhere close to happening on time...yet until it is "outside" these processing times you can't seem to do anything! ARGH!

Thought I'd check back in with you and see if you received anything from the local office as promised? Or did you end up calling customer services back?

Hope they sent you something informative at the least...

fingers crossed NYC speed up...and soon!

Hi Leelee,

I am in the same boat as you. I have been in line since November 18, 2014. I called the 1-800 number on Friday 2/14 and they told me that since my 90 days were not up I need to call them on 2/17 which was Veteran's day so basically I had to call on 2/18. On 2/18 I got the exact same story as you. They told me that i have to wait till May before I can even make an info-pass. Insane!!!

I called again on 2/25 and asked to speak to a tier 2 officer. The wait time was over 45 minutes so I hung up since they close at 6 p.m. and there was no way they were going to take my call.

When i called on 2/26 I got to speak to a tier 2 officer who was nice enough to create a "service request" which basically asks the local field office to send the applicant some kind of update. She asked me to call them back on 3/13 if I dont hear from the local office.Thats next week and I am still waiting.

The sole August filer from NYC on this forum got scheduled for interview on Dec 31 and took his interview on 1/29. So I am hoping that I get some kind of update soon. (my priority date is 9/27)

hi Leelee1986,

there has been no luck on my end as yet. I made a service request through a USCIS customer services rep on 2/26 and as per their instructions I called them again on 3/13 and 3/18 with no response whatsoever. I tried submitting my service request via the e-request link on their website and I got a message saying that I cannot make an e-request since I am within the current processing times. The tier two office I spoke to on 3/18 told me to make an infopass. On Friday I finally succeeded in making the infopass appointment through the website (apparently they had no appointments available for at least two days that i tried). My appointment is on 4/3. I am hoping to hear something before then otherwise I guess i will have more information after 4/3

On another note the tier 2 office told me that NY is still very back-logged. Also, A friend of mine filed for her citizenship in early January 2013 and it took her 5 months to get an interview date. she took oath in early August 2013. So it seems this is quiet normal for the NY City field office.

i will keep you posted with any progress on my end.

Thanks and good luck!

We have done it. Naturalization ceremony took place on March 28 and my wife is finally an American citizen. There is only one thing left for us - the N-600 application for my step-son. Another $600... :crying:

hi Leelee 1986,

Have you seen any movement on your end? I two people who had a priority date of December 2013 have already been scheduled for interview as of last week.

Any update on your case?

Thanks,

Hi MJC79 - Woohoo! So pleased for you...finally some movement in NYC!

I have still not heard anything and the online case status still says "On December 2nd you were placed in line for interview..." blah blah blah! But as yours has started to move...that gives me hope that mine will soon start moving too! Thank you for letting me know, it's much appreciated! Sometimes you feel so lost on this winding journey...it's good to have someone to share and update with!

I hope your interview is in the near future and not months away...please let me know when you find out...and best of luck with the rest of your journey!

Just as an aside...in your previous post when you mentioned people with December "priority dates"...are you referring to the date we are put "in-line" for interview? If so, when is your priority date...just wondering as depending on how much earlier than me you are....I will have perhaps some idea of when I might get my text/email!!

Thanks again for keeping me posted! Weren't you scheduled for info-pass appointment tomorrow? Haha...timing, as they say...is everything :-)

Thanks Leelee1986!

I am pretty sure that the interview is within 30 days of the status update or status change. So i think its going to be April 30th or May 1st. either way I will definitely let you know when i get my letter.

When I said 'Priority date" I meant the date when USCIS received the intial application. My Priority date is 9/27/13. I think I am about two weeks ahead of you.

Furthermore, after posting that particular post about the people with december priority dates, I called USCIS customer services on 3/31/14 and asked to speak to a tier 2 officer. Luckily this time I got someone who knew what he was talking about. He explained that everyone in the five boroughs and Long Island are considered within NYC district office and their interviews and oaths are at 26 Federal Plaza. BUT their applications are scheduled for interviews by their local office which serves their Zip code. For example anyone with a Queens zip code will have their application processed at the Queen local office and people living in Long Island will have their application scheduled by the Holtsville office. It is the Zip code that is the determining factor. I live in Manhattan and my local office as well as district office is the one located at 26 Federal Plaza. This particular office is the most backed up office in our area that is why it took so long. My friend who got her citizenship last summer waited 5 months for her interview as well. It seems 100 - 150 days wait time for interview scheduling is standard for anyone living in Manhattan. I am assuming you live in Manhattan as well.

Hang in there; you will see some movement with in the next two weeks. the USCIS officer i spoke to said that he can see in his system that they are moving along the applications that fall around my priority date.

Best of luck and i will be updating you very soon.

Hi,

Thanks for clarifying! My priority date is mid October (can't recall the exact date off the top of my head) but I am probably 2-3 weeks behind you...but it does give me confidence that my application will be moving soon! That is interesting about the borough offices...and yes, I am Manhattan too!

I think if I don't hear anything by mid - April I will give them a call...

Look forward to hearing your updates...if the interview is coming...best get studying! :-)

All the best,

Leelee1986
