I had my interview today, recommended for approval.

Interview with a very nice lady, asked me why I waited so long to apply. Then she went into Civics questions and English test (write "the flag is red,white and blue"). Civics questions asked (I don't remember the order), Ocean to the East, State bordering Canada, Capital of the US, Year constitution was written, What is Freedom of Religion, when must all men register for selective service. Stopped asking questions.

She then went through my application line by line (corrected a couple of errors), asked detail on my stated traffic citations, then checked through my passport.

She told me she would recommend me for approval and congratulated me. I asked about the oath, she said that would be about 4 - 6 weeks away.

Got the email from USCIS that we have been scheduled for an interview! Unfortunately Atlanta is in serious weather shutdown mode so it may be several days before we get our interview letter, but we're pleased to know that it's on the way!

Hi, if you don't mind letting us know what you answered to when she asked you why you waited so long? I'm a bit nervous for that question because I really don't have an answer other than "life happens and I didn't think of applying until now"...

Don't worry, just tell the truth there's nothing to hide, we might just feel a little silly. For me I just explained that marriage, kids and career always got in the way. I've been loyal to the US, believe in the principles of it's foundation. I've been eligible for more than 15 years. I felt it was high time to express this in Citizenship, seal the deal. Yes I felt a little silly and humble, it passes :-)

Thank you - that's my circumstances as well. I actually printed the naturalization forms a few times but each time things were happening (dad and mom passed away separate times etc. etc. etc.) so it just got put on the back burner. Thank you for taking the time to respond!

Thank you - that's my circumstances as well. I actually printed the naturalization forms a few times but each time things were happening (dad and mom passed away separate times etc. etc. etc.) so it just got put on the back burner. Thank you for taking the time to respond!

PS. my husband and I love watching Top Gear on BBC America.. content.gif

Some say, he's applied for US citizenship and Is British no more devil.gif
