I got mine for January 9th! I'll freakin' take it! I was somewhat confused about the visa class. I had selected "ready to schedule" so I can pay in US cash when I go to the consulate, and the only visa class it will allow me to pick that is closest to K1 is IR. Any thoughts on this? I hope this won't be an issue!

Hi there. I am currently waiting for NVC to receive my petition. Is there anything I can be preparing while i wait. It's been about 3 weeks since its been approved. What happens once NVC receives it? What is it they will send me? Is it the packet 3? What is the packet 3?

Any help be great!:)

YES!

NVC receives it, logs your case, assigns a MTL (or V_ _ if you're in the West), and send your petitions to the Consulate. Your case will spend 2-3 days at the NVC.

Onto the Consulate... they receive your case, send out confirmation of receipt of your case to the peitioner once it arrives. Then they will send out your Packet 3 info. Some people don't get it. You can call DOS and confirm whether or not Packet 3 has been sent. If they've sent it to you, you can send in your forms ASAP.

Here's what they will send you for Packet 3 http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/montreal/packet3-k1-mtl.pdf

Order your criminal record check, long form birth certificate and find your vaccination records. Get your fiance to order their W2s and other financial proof for your Affidavit of Support.

Good luck!

Might be dumb question... What is W3's? That I need my fiancé to send me?.

Tanya

I mean W2's?

W2s are the equivalent of our T4s... its what a lot of people use to prove the peitioner's income.

Wait! When you file the I-485 after your wedding, you can file for your Advance Parole and Employment Authorization at the same time for no extra fee! The $1,100 will cover all three (as long as you file at the same time).

Ok, Linda - my name is Bree and I will look out for you guys! I don't speak French often, but I can read/understand it quite well!

Woohoo, congrats and good luck, I've been reading this whole book ahead and then get one more reasonably sooner is quite common so I'm keeping my fingers crossed when I do it a few short weeks from now. You're almost over all the hurdles. Doubt forget to do your medical too. I bet the butterflies are scattering now..lol
