Just some quick questions on the CFO registration form:

1.) What do I put on the "YEAR OF MIGRATION" if my fiance was born and raised in US?

2.) Also on my fiance's CITIZENSHIP, which is the grammatically correct answer, "American" or "U.S."? Or either will do? I know this is a petty question, but just trying to avoid raising any CFO official's eyebrow. wink.png

Thanks guys! smile.png

Sweet - for Questions 2 - put "USA". Since there are multiple countries in "North America" (Waving to citizens of Canada and Mexico!) and three "Americas" (North, Central and South), "USA" leaves no doubt.

Many people in the US and in the world assume that "American" means USA, but to be totally clear, "USA" is best.

on my day of interview, they asked us to fill up some forms and never even asked for the registration online. there will be more questions on those form than the ones you fill up online. i don't think it's even important to register online since you will have to do it when you get there. just make sure you know your fiance's mother's maiden name and have a land line of fiance. since my fiance doesn't have land line at home, i gave his land line at work. good luck.

Thanks for sharing, sis. Can I know when did you attend the CFO seminar? I have been reading blogs and info about it for some time now, and they all indicated that the CFO online registration form is required there.

Yes, I have been aware that I need to know his mom's maiden name and give some land line number. The land line at work is a good suggestion. smile.png Thanks, sis!

i attended July 3, 2013. i registered online too but they never even asked about it, nor mentioned about registering online. everybody will be given some forms to fill up when you get inside the building. the form online is a lot different than the ones they give on the actual seminar. the actual forms has more personal questions about you and your fiance. i just got my sticker today (Oct. 1, 2013) and they required to fill up another form, this time, the form is more similar to the one online.

you can register online if you want to but you'll see on the day of interview that they won't even asked about the online registration.

Sukie

Hmmm... I'm supposing that Suike is the Aussie and I suppose that the answer makes sense to an Aussie after all he/she could be a Sandgroper, (W. Australia), a Cabbage Patcher (Victoria, or maybe even a Gum Sucker) heck, he could even be a Taswegian (ducking since that’s not really a nice thing to call a Barracounta (ducking again…) ok an Apple Islander.

But I’d suggest just answering “American.”

US is a “place.” American defines the origin of a person.

Granted those from South America, or the West Indies, or even native Americans could be, technically called “Americans,” in reality I have never, ever heard anyone call themselves “American” other than a person from one of the fifty states.

Even many Puerto Rican’s if pressed would say: “I’m Puerto Rican with American Citizenship.” Canadians never call themselves Americans—never, never, never. They might call themselves or others if their ilk Canuck—but it is better to not call anyone a Canuck unless you are one. Mexicans call themselves Mexicans. People from Honduras call themselves Hondureños; also Catrachos. Those from Peru are Peruvian. And so on.

So I’ll stick my neck out and say: Call him what I would proudly call him/her: An American.

Hmm...on second thought I noticed that the Petitioner's origin is Albany--Neat, you could put down Albanian!

Running awry. (misspelling intended)

Most countries have prefixes that define whether a phone is a landline or a cell phone.

America does not. There is absolutely no way to tell if a line is a landline or a cell phone, further Telcos are forbidden by law from doing anything that identifies whether a phone number is a landline or a cell phone.

If you prefer Juliet, I'll get a pot, put some dirt in it, and on the day that you go to visit the CFO I'll lay my cell phone on it--then I'll have a legit "land line" phone number on that day. (Steve)

Sorry, you lose. Sukie is from the USA. She is also from Queensland, and is used to being called the most vile of names because of it.

OK - YOU tell Mrs. McKinstry, my 5th grade history/geography teacher, that being "American" always means being from the US!!!

And, actually Juliet and Steve, I grew up in Alabama - so it's Alabaman, not Albanian <very big grin!>

Thanks for the detailed explanation, Steve! I figured "US" is an option because you guys are also called "US" citizens, right? And I also googled the term "US citizenship", and it exists. So it got me all the more curious. Maybe I overanalyzed again, as always. wink.png

In any case, I'll settle for American for my answer. smile.png
