This thought has always ran through my mind that since iam 21 years old and a senior at KSU and my fiancee is 22, they would review my petition harshly or take as long as they want. Has anyone out there filed for a K1 as young as I? I just want to be comforted that this is not the case and that because I have the same rights as every U.S citizen they will treat my petition the same. Just getting nervous to as why they seem to have not even picked up my case yet, and other folks are recieving thier approvals with case dates later than mine. I brought my petition to my congressman's office so that a secretary could review it and make sure that everything was in order, she told me it was the best put together petition she had seen, so why is it taking so long?

What makes you think because you are 21 that they would treat your case any diffrently from someone who is 31????

As every case is diffrent you can only be guided by what happens to others that file at the same time as you... some are much quicker than others.... there are 1000's of reasons that your case may be slower to process then Jane Doe's who filled the same day.... but I would doubt that you being 21 is one of them...

Good luck

As long as you are both legally free to marry they don't discriminate. So try not to worry. Believe me I know waiting sucks. ;) You are well within normal processing times and I know you have seen people who filed the same time get approved. That doesn't mean there is a problem with yours. Try to hang in there. :)

Yeah I think your right, I just wanted to get a response the question. I think all of us who are seeing others around us get approved and them moving on to the next stages is hard to take sometimes, and perhaps discouraging. Its always nice to have you vjrs though helping us (me) through the muck.

thanks a bunch

I'm 25, and my fiancee is 19. We just got approved this past weekend with an NOA1 date of September 12th, so hopefully you aren't far behind. Keep your hopes up. It doesn't seem like things get done exactly in order, or maybe we all just get shuffled onto people's desks and some of us end up on the slow desk.

As hard as it is to accept and comprehend, every case is different. There's no sense in trying to compare your timeline to some else's. It's just meant to give you an idea of average timing for approval. You've been waiting 3 months - not that long and still within guidelines. Try to hang tight - your approval will come and your age does not affect processing.

Yeah, iam in favor of the slow desk theory. Iam even more in favor of having each individual state do its own petitions!

alex&ketino,

Perhaps because secretaries in congressional offices are not necessarily competent to know what information in a petition could cause a problem, or what lack of information in the petition could cause a problem?

How well put together the submission is won't get you any points with the case officer, because long before the case officer sees the submission it has been taken apart and assembled into a file by the clerical staff.

I'm 25 and my fiance is 23 and we were approved in 10 weeks.

You're within the normal processing time - I wouldn't start to worry.

My best friend was impressed by how I had organized/prepared my application but she has nothing to compare it with nor does she know anything about fiance visa applications, you know?

CSC has been on a roll so you may be in for an early Christmas present.

I agree, i'm thinking no age discriminations. I am 20, my fiance is 21. We haven't gotten approved yet, but we haven't been denied either. I agree that as long as you are able to marry you should have problems. In the states you are legal to marry when you are 18, so why would this be any different?

Anyhoo, good luck on getting approved soon! You should be, i've seen a lot of septembers recently. I'm hoping they start Octobers soon!!
