Hi tom . Thanks for you replay . The officer was going to find out when should expect to recieve my oath but he changed his mind. Also I just found out that the court has 8 citizenship scheduled for October. Almost twice a week. Prying they will invite me to one of them :)

Hi Nina80! How did it go? Did the name change cause a delay in the oath taking schedule? Also, where did you take the oath? My interview in Chicago is coming up and I'm wondering the same thing. Thanks!

No at all! I have my interview on sep 30 and my oath was on October 22. I think it took only one week extra comparing to other Chicago applicants. It was in the federal cout I believe 219 s Dearborn . The whole precess took exactly 3 months and 10 days. I got my passport yesterday. I field on October 23 normal processing. Good luck !

well, i was pissed off at that time of interview when Officer reviewed my application and said " oh you want to change your name but unfortunately we no longer do it here ,you have to go to court in order to change your name" I know it is still have an option in the application it'self but it freaked me out to me when officer said that. But like i said it might be different from state to state. I hope you could change your name through naturalized :)

I think you're right; I've read quite a few posts from people interviewed in Sacramento who were told that they could no longer change their names through the naturalization process. I've also read a couple of posts about San Francisco recently adopting the same policy. However, I'm pretty sure this does not apply to all cities in California and definitely not to the rest of the country.

For a review of each step of my N-400 naturalization process, from application to oath ceremony, please click here.
