Any action that moves the case forward is good. The waiting is part of the process but in the end you will have what you worked for.

Doubtful.

When you do return I suggest you take a 134 which you have signed but leave blank all other info. Later you could scan a copy of the filled out form to her as example of how to fill in the original you signed. You might also want to take at least one years tax transcript that would be submitted with the 134 later. Timing is a gamble but it might save you some time and effort.

Keep in mind the upcoming holidays which affect the embassy and overall U S govt work schedule.

CSC is running at about 80 days between NOA1 and NOA2, so you might have NOA2 by Jan. 16.

thank you for the sound advice ning,i already have 2 I-134`s here at home.I did not work Jan 1-May 30,2013.While I will still meet minimum guidelines,is it better only to submit 2010,2011 and 2012 tax transcripts along with some current pay stubs? I would like to say what we have done as I hope it may help others....we understand that this is getting way ahead of our selves but while songsang`s spoken English and written English is good her ability to read and understand is not as good so she already has completed

DS-156,DS-156K,and DS-157 forms(complete with the appropriate n/a`S

All you have to do is meet the minimum so a period of unemployment is ok. My husband was off about 18 months and still qualified in the end.

Nothing wrong with getting everything ready especially if it helps you to understand the process. This helps make sense of the timing for one thing.

Songsang will do fine in this effort and her English will not be a problem especially with what you indicate here. She will find the interview is easy for example because the real work is in the documents.

Yes you can and should submit what you say to prove the support because this is the most important aspect of this process.

I should qualify what I meant by ' doubtful '. Karee is right in that you may have the NOA 2. I thought you were hoping to have the interview by then. There are several members that may respond and Karee is one of the most respected we have. I like to think of him as a member that passed the bar but it probably wasn't the one you are thinking of.

Getting ready for the P 3 submission--.

All cases are sent from NVC to the consulate section. This is located across the street from the embassy in the high rise building. This is important because of the timing of the submission of the P 3 docs. The I V section will not accept those docs until the case is with them. The transfer takes a few days. The trick is to know when the I V section has the case. When you are sure they do you can have Songsang send in the docs even tough she hasn't heard from the embassy. We can help you when the time comes if you want.

Suggestion--

Find on Amazon the book Thailand Fever if you haven't seen it. Take a copy to Songsang or better yet ask her to buy it in Thailand. This is a huge help in understanding some aspect of Thai people and the culture.

Relating to your financial submission. You only need to submit 2012 transcript. Even if your interview is in early 2014, you most likely won;t have a 2013 transcript to submit. So, your layoff won;t show up until you do AOS further down the road.

You will want to submit pay stubs as well as letters from your bank stating balances. Again doing this closer to the interview will take your layoff period out of the picture.

Always, always always come back here with any questions before you send anything in.

Regarding the forms, I filled them all out here. Jin and I worked together on them via Skype. When everything was complete, I sent her forms and my forms together via DHL. I put little post-it arrows indicating where she needs to sign.

It all went very smoothly for us.

Regarding being ready for the interview:

Do you have her birth certificate, Free to marry certificate (if required) These two take a little running around and can be done now to save time later. The medical and police report take a couple weeks. you can do them ahead of time, but not this early.

Do you have her birth certificate,

I'm glad you brought that up. This is very important. Not so much for the interview in Thailand, but for the adjustment of status after arrival in the U.S. The U.S. embassy in Bangkok will accept many things as proof of birth. However, USCIS is more strict when it comes to this. I've seen many Thai cases here on VJ where getting the visa was easy, but after arriving in the U.S. and trying to adjust status, USCIS would not accept the documentation that was used for the visa for proving birth when adjusting status. Then it was a nightmare trying to get a birth certificate 9000 miles away.
