I know you are a little late to the party but the question arose.

Q: Does supporting someones right to be a racist make themselves a racist? (as I was accused)

And of course many would differ on where that right starts and stops.

For instance, there are many places that are exempt from these laws, so the law already allows it to some degree.

I am asking what people believe, I don't want them hiding behind fluid laws, to do that gives cover to wrongs done in the past.

A man owns a barber shop and wants Black barbers in his shop cutting hair as conversation and community is a big part of Black barbershops, is this wrong?

If I support his right to hire the barbers he wants.... does that make me guilty of racism?

It's his shop and often times his home all in one place.

I'm sure some do, the last time I went into one, in Greensboro NC, I was the only white face in there.

Thanks for your comment.

I doubt many people are discounting qualified people without cause.

The greater problem or more prevalent problem which makes a person unemployable is the lack of education, to me this is a much more grave wrong.

People are paying (in taxes) top dollar to a school system which too often graduates (if at all) students at an eighth grade level in base subjects.

At the same time, we are bringing in millions of people to compete for this same level of employment.

In the 80's Blacks opposed amnesty.

When Bush tried to pass it Blacks remained quiet.

When Obama made it a goal, Black leaders love it.

These and other things are Killing opportunity for Blacks not some barber or neighborhood cafe.

IN the end, mark my words, Blacks are going to pay for following their leaders as everything is changing in this country now, and their voice is getting smaller not bigger, their political capital shrinks more every year.

And you know all blacks are following someone how?

And for the record, our half white President belongs to you as well.

Blacks Support Democrats with devotion numbers not found elsewhere in the free world.

I call that support.

FOr the record, when it comes to Obama (aka the 1st Black president)

I have never tried to disown him, even if his time in office has been disastrous to all but Gays and lobbyist.

He may be a Screw up but dog-gone it, he is my Screw up too.

And this line of thinking is the problem:

You've made this about education. Here's the issue, she wasn't hired because she lacked one or a proper one at that. She was denied solely on her skin color. She was flat out told she would scare the customers. It's pretty straight forward, you can't wiggle around with it. There is no justification to it. It's racist and wrong.

The issue, from what I can see, is that your mind can't seem to fathom that racism exists today like it did back then. You tend to make excuses for blatantly racist behavior because there HAS to be some logical explanation behind it. Just like in this case, you've turned this into a blacks aren't educated issue when her education had NOTHING to do with her not be hired. No matter what the case, it's always on us. Even when it's not, it was at some point, or it will be in the future.

The commission found the pair’s denials weren’t credible, noting they admitted they had never hired a black person or a man to work the counter in the three years they had been in business,

it is a he said she said situation. The fact that they a mom and pop store and they hire what less than 3 or 4 people and have never hired a black person MUST make them racist. This is the classic Jessie Jackson shake down. Going after a pair of immigrants must make them fair game. Let the shake down begin. No, if a person isn't qualified, that's that. I think she wouldn't have a problem if the wife didn't tell her she couldn't be hired because she would scare off customers.

Marvin why is it you are so quick to believe "word 4 word" what this women claims when she did not get hired?

It seems rather odd the man would have even told her why if race was the factor. 9 times out of ten you never even hear back when applying for such low level jobs.

But in this case, the man announced -

She would not be hired.

Her race was the color.

She was scary.

Just wondering Marvin, do they mention the womens name?

The commission found the pair’s denials weren’t credible, noting they admitted they had never hired a black person or a man to work the counter in the three years they had been in business, though Saputhanthri said the bakery now has two black employees, including one at the counter.

“Respondents’ actions were blatant violations,” the commission wrote in its decision. “Meimetea’s statements to Ms. DaCosta were cruelly and flagrantly bigoted and demeaning.”

How does it work? If we find out it's not true, we say racism doens't exist, if the judge says it is, do we still denoune it?

Her name is Jamilah DaCosta. And TM's friend has nothing to do with it. Or are you suggesting that white people don't lie?

MArvin, Becouse in three years the man has not hired a Black women (How many people does on hire per year in a small shop)

... That makes this women's claims valid?

It's not that I don't believe her.

I sorta believed the Duke Lacross stripper at first, I actually believed the trayvon story when I heard the 911 call (until witnesses verified the calls for help were from GZ).

I simply look at all these cases by the the facts.

The only fact produced was he failed to hire a AA in the last three years Whoptee-doo. How many small business could past that test?

Everything else is he said-she said.

Screw presumption of innocence, when race is involved.
