Hi All!

I'm looking for some guidance. I recently got engaged to my fiancee, who is an F-1 student from Thailand. We met about 2 weeks after she entered into the US and have been together now for a little over 3 months.

We're currently planning to have the wedding in January in her home town in Thailand. We'd leave the US for 3 weeks, then return so she can continue school. I was originally thinking that this wouldn't be a problem, as long as she has a valid I-20 form, but it looks like that may not be the case if we're married at that point in time.

What should I do? Should we get married in the US, apply for permanent residency and then eventually have the wedding ceremony in Thailand once the US let's her travel? Is there a way that we can travel outside to US to have the wedding, without fear of her getting stuck in immigration?

I'm consulting with a lawyer as well, since that seems to be recommended, but I'd love other opinions.

Thanks!
