Trust your feeling. If you don't mind my asking, how long you both have been together?

Almost 2 years.

My feelings are that he is pushing to hard to be together quick. Of course I wanted to be with him but marrying so quick and we didn't even date or go out much together in DR... Its all just coming to me now that my eyes are open

I understand. I am really sorry you've been through this situation. It is not easy one. I've seen many people been warned about fraud person and still continuing the relationship. Eventually, the true colour is revealed and no time to turn back. I am glad you can break the chain and move on.

My sympathies go out to you, this is a really unfair situation. I admire your strength though, to not only see and acknowledge what he's doing but also to do something about it. A lot of people can't do what you are. I know this doesn't make it easier and nothing but time will help but try to keep your chin up and know you're doing the right thing for yourself and your child. I hope that you find peace rose.gif

I don't want to be harsh but how is it that now is that you aren't ready to get married so soon? Part of the K1 process is marrying within 90 days of the fiancé entering the US. Also at least he was the one that paid the petition. It's his lost. He shouldn't have used you. What's wrong is wrong but sometimes we also play into certain situations.

Yeah stay strong and see the good side of this. This broken relationship is better than a broken marriage and family in a future if u didn't realize the truth on time. You deserve better. I believe it's not easy sometimes to determine love is the only factor when there are also other benefits in between.

Not sure how it works, but I think you need to notify USCS that you want to withdraw your petition due to your findings. I hope some one with more experience can tell you better what's the process now.

It is so sad, somebody play with feelings, but not everybody is the same, because my fiance is it from Dominican Republic and it is the most amazing man ,I ever meet, his family the best I ever meet, treat me like a princess, I meet him for almost 4 years and we love so much, so im really sorry about your bad experience, but if you feel it is a fraud, just do what you need to do,Good luck.

Posted

Where is your base to state the DR is one of the highest fraud rate countries? That's where I was born. Traveled many times with a tourist visa to the U.S. Later my grandpa petitioned for my mom and family so we got Permanent Residency. I became a U.S. citizen with no fraud at all.

That phrase you just repeated was the basic of A-COUNTRY telling B-COUNTRY to be careful of C-COUNTRY. You can of course substitute A, B, and C with any set of countries.

I'm glad petitioning is not an easy process. I see how it helps this country to be safer than others. I'm glad is not easy for me that have a real family, because it makes me feel is not easy for others to bring dangerous people here. Now, it is also the job and judgement of us as petitioners to make sure we aren't bringing dangerous or fraud to this country. I'm glad the OP has realize there is something to think about on her relationship. It could've been the case of a beneficiary being from a different country.

i won't go any further making examples of fraud just to stay away f rom putting any country on the spot. And I hope this post doesn't put any country on the spot either. To describe a country looking at a few individuals is really just silly.

I perfectly agree "To describe a country looking at a few individuals is really just silly."

I was very ready to be married with him.

But after reading forums here...it just wasn't the same as how these other people "are in love" so I started thinking...wow I haven't know this guy too long, the things he said right in the beginning...which I just didn't catch on to...

It's just really a heartbreaking situation

I feel ashamed and embarrassed

Because I started this whole train, let me please say that I WAS INDEED WARNED ABOUT "DOMINICANS AND FAKE LOVE" of course not all Dominicans are this way. Beautiful, genuine people and that is why I fell in love with the country!

But upon my first vist to the DR well over 90% of advice was "watch for the sankies(sp?)...unfortunately yes the DR is considered a high fraud country, as that is why this country is never offered a visa waiver....and both parties HAVE TO BE PRESENT AT THE INTERVIEW...

Again I CAN NOT SPEAK on any other countries as I did not travel to others. I am well aware, however, that lies are worldwide!

I find it annoying that people keep chiming in about a comment that was made early in the thread, but fail to read the proceeding comments that have already addressed the issue. It's like people want to keep beating a dead horse. That, or they're just lazy and don't want to read. I'm going with lazy.

OP, best of luck. If you felt it was fraud, then it probably was. Always follow your gut.

Trust me I'm not trying to judge you so I apologize if I offended you in any way, that's not my intention. What flags did you miss from the beginning?

And not knowing from too long isn't nessesarily a mistake there are many relationship that just bloom from the beginning. In my case I met my fiancé from DR and things just started flowing quickly and we ended up as boyfriend and girlfriend quite fast. I went to meet him 4 months after our online relationship started. I spoke to him about coming and he said he never had plans to come, he has a great job out there and so on. Eventually we just couldn't be away from one another and here we are with the k1 process.

Have you spoken to him again? You should have a long talk ask him to be honest.

Again my apologies to you bc yes DR has many stories as many other countries do as well. I know so many stories of ppl that met their love of their life in DR while on vacay.
