Just curious to know who has been approved after submitting first the DS-230 and later the DS-260 after the Sep 1st change. I submitted my DS-230 on August and was checklisted in September, later submitted the DS-260 and was approved in about a week. Share your experiences and case complete if any, Thanks!

I think i filed my DS-260 almost two weeks ago and still haven't heard anything.

Maybe because I send the DS-230 form ONLY and not the pictures, copies of Birth Certificate.

But called NVC and they told me i had to send those in and i did.

SO for me i think the DS-230 is still in review and the pictures and all will be reviewed later on.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply.

NVC received my ds-230 on 6th September with all required documents (civil documents..etc). Then I got a checklist in 4/5 days about submitting ds-260 online. I have submitted ds-260 on 13th September.

Now I have couple of questions:

1. Do I have to send the civil documents again? the checklist talks about sending the civil document (kind of generic statement),

2. Do I have to inform NVC by sending an email/mail that I have submitted the ds-260?

appreciate any response! Thanks

1) No, once they received the civil documents they will be reviewed and placed in your file. It's pretty much impossible to re-send as they needed to be originals. The checklists are always generic. If they didn't actually review your old DS-230 with documents yet, they really have no idea that you sent them in. Your DS-260 should be processed when the DS-230 gets analyzed.

2) No, the DS-260 is electronic so NVC gets notified by their own internal mechanisms.

The question is how long it takes them to review the DS-260 after they have already reviewed the civil documents. Some of the NVC documentation states they will review the DS-260 after the civil documents are reviewed, but what if that order was reversed.

We were in a similar case, but our expedite was approved a day after I sent our DS-260, so I don't know what would have happened.

This DS-230/DS-260 fiasco was a major failure on the part of the NVC and I think that was part of the reason they approved our expedite.

I was approved about a week after submitting the DS-260. Since NVC already had my original document i guess that tied the DS-230 to the DS-260. No need to contact NVC after submitting, but I can't say don't do it either.

If i can remember after submitting, it stated that it would take 3-5 days to review. I might be wrong but like i said it could take longer if no DS-230 was previously submitted.

It's actually wise to contact NVC after any change in the process, sometimes checklists are generated after the fact. In my case i had to tell NVC to send me one after knowing that the DS-230 was obsolete. Calling NVC can't really hurt you, might get you angry on the hold time, but worth it. IMO

Thanks for the reply. When did you send your ds230? I sent mine on 4th September?

Can I expect my case is going to be reviewed soon like yours?

Remember I sent my DS-260 on the 19th of Sep, but I submitted my DS-230 like mid August. You never submitted your DS-260 or was checklisted to do so?

I called NVC yesterday and the CS said they have all the required papers to process my case further and my case has been completed on sep 27. And also said I will be getting two emails, one for case completion and another for the interview date. Right now NVC contacting to respective US embassy to get an appointment date.

Awesome!!

What do you think, we will get an interview date on November? because october dates are already out.

Good luck to you too.

Here base on my experience i got a checklist on august 21 (ds-230) same day i send out that checklist and waiting for case to be completed on sept 1 ds-230 replaced by ds-260 online form i was reading some post and some of here that they still have to fill up ds-260 even the case was complete already i was thinking about it that it might be another delay if i dont fill up the ds-260 online form before they reviewed the ds-230 form so sept 12 i fill up the ds-260 online form and submited. on sept 19 casecomplete and casecomplete confirmation email sept 26 :)

you guys filled this DS-260 online and send it online or filled it, printed and then send to NVC ?

i'm stopped on that level so going to fill it and send today or tomorrow ( what else did you send with this application ? )

one more question. do you send AOF with DS-260 or separate ?

DS-260 is an online version application for IV. Relatively straightforward and somewhat easy. Of course original documents can be either sent electronically via fax or through mail, your choice.

I sent the following....ALL ORIGINAL

1. Birth Certificate

2. Marriage Certificate

3. 2 Passport Style Pictures of Beneficiary (2"x2")

4. Police Record

5. Biographic Copy of Passport (picture page)-Usually 1st or 2nd page

6. Supplemental Sheets for Questions that did not fit, :(

I had my documents Authenticated in Nicaragua, just for in case.

NOT TRANSLATED!!!!

The following was for ((BEFORE 1ST OF SEP) DS-230))******

A. Cover sheet

B. IV Part 1 & 2

Hope that helps!

And question, what is AOF?

If its AOS, That is different, they are not sent together.
